Several years ago, my DH bought me a Canon Digi Rebel for Christmas because I was traveling to England for school. I loved it so much. Over the years, I've bought a bunch of lenses for it and have taken good care of it. But then Christmas Eve of 2012, my nephew dropped it on the floor and cracked the LCD screen. I found out Christmas morning when I went to use it. It was still technically "usable" since it was just the LCD, but it made it really difficult to know if you got a decent picture because you had to kind of go old school and wait until you uploaded to find out. I also wasn't sure if there were other issues.
I was bummed about it and have only been using my phone for camera stuff the past year and (almost) a half. I didn't want to buy a new camera since I had everything else. But I checked on YouTube and watched a ten minute video where a guy fixed his LCD screen, so I went ahead and ordered the parts from China via ebay. (There are no camera stores around here, and the Canon website doesn't even help with part info.) The parts have been sitting here for a couple of months now because I was chicken to try to fix it. One woman (in the video comments) actually messed her camera up more by trying to fix it. But my daughter came to my rescue today. She'd fixed several things on her iPhone, and was messing around with one this morning, so she was familiar with that sort of stuff. I asked her about it, so she took on my camera repair and fixed it in about twenty minutes. My camera is now back in working order! Yay!!!!!

I can't believe how difficult manufacturers make it to repair something so you just have to buy a new one. I'm thrilled I didn't have to do that.
