    Hi everyone, Cindy here with the new NBK-Design Advanced Challenge. This month we're going to wrap a text around a shape using the pen tool.

    I found this easy to follow tutorial:

    (the tutorial about the text shape starts at 1:22)
    And here are three more videos about the pen tool, if you want to learn more:



    As a "shape" you can use an extracted photo, an element, or even use the white space on the background paper after you finish your page, like I did on my layout.

    For my page I used the Bittersweet collection and the font NA Coffee High.

    To summarize, here is your task and the rules.
    1. Make a page using NBK-Design products. You can create any style of layout, with or without photos.
    2. You need to have at least 7 lines of text. You can use your own journaling, lyrics, or even the Lorem Ipsum dummy text, if you don't mind having it on your page! :-)
    3. Wrap your text around a shape using the technique in the video: the "shape" can be an extracted photo, an element, anything.

    RULES
    1. This challenge runs from April 1st to 30th (one month).
    2. TWO lucky scrappers will be randomly chosen to win a $5 coupon to the NBK-Design store.
    3. You must use 100% NBK-Design Products.
    4. Post your layout here and in the NBK-Design Gallery and link your layout.

    This is terrifying to me, but I plan to give it a shot....maybe after I've got my monthly challenges done. My brain does not wrap around this tool naturally. But I'm going to try to move myself up a notch. Thanks for the challenge!

    The most difficult challenge I've ever undertaken. So much frustration because what I did wasn't like any of the videos. FINALLY figured out that "Rubber Band," found under the gear, needed to be unchecked. I was so determined to rise to the challenge, but it seriously took me all afternoon. SO! Thank You? ...yes...this took me further out of my digital art box than I have ever been.

    Thanks Nicole. It means a lot coming from you. I can't say it was "fun," but it was a "muscle-stretcher" for me, and gave me a great deal of satisfaction. And it kept my mind off of viruses for 3 or 4 hours! LOL

    I love your page, Sharon! You did awesome with the text shape. Fun journaling and amazing title!
    The pen tool is one of the most useful ones in PS, you'll use it again and again, I'm sure.

    If you are working in PSE, you have to do text on custom shape.

    I am a PSE user, and I did have to use a shape for the orange text. Hope that's okay. This was after trying several other workarounds unsuccessfully. Maybe I do need to make the move to PS! I still like the resulting art journal page, using the Love Forever products.

    I love your art journaling page, Joan. It turned out beautiful. And yes, you need to make the move to PS. NBK products are the perfect reason to do it! Thanks for joining me in this challenge.

    I really wanted to try this one for long time. I took it to my own place and use this fun technique in a pocket page on one of my photos to tell my story.

    Thank you for posting links to the videos. You will get a laugh out of the fact that for the longest time I thought he was saying “bend tool.” And then there was the “dex tool.” Now I have only had PS CC for a couple of weeks but I was pretty sure that I had neither!! What a laugh when I finally realized that those tools were PEN and TEXT. So I will listen again and try to follow along on my computer to practice.

    By the way, I've decided to make my layout all about telling this story. So watch for Bend & Dex (coming soon).

    @flowersgal, so cool that you're using PS CC now! I always say that NBK is the perfect reason to forget about any other program.

    Alright, Cindy, here you are. This was a fun technique and I am so glad to learn it. Thanks for posting links to all of the tutorials. Sometimes I have to watch two or three different ones before I "get it" but I am learning.

    Of course you know that I had to tell the story!
