Our chocolate lab Koda was sprayed by a skunk yesterday! After about being washed 5 times with a misture of baking soda, peroxide and Dawn dish soap he seems to smell okay but now my house stinks! It's getting better but I can't seem to get the smell out of my nose.... ugh! Fun times!

Here's pic of the little rascal from last night when we decided to finally let him in the house... poor thing. ;)

Back some 40 years ago, I remember my aunt's dog getting sprayed by a skunk. I think my grandparents washed the dog in tomato juice. Something about the acid in the juice took the smell away but after a search on Google, apparently its a myth and what you've done should take care of the smell.

He is such a cutie though!

aw, poor guy. we've never had that problem yet. I hope the smell clears up for you soon!

Oh no! Get some fall air fresheners. It's my favorite season if only for the smells! Pumpkin pie. Apple pie. Mmmmmmm. Much better than skunk!

Oh just look at his sweet face :giggle: ... poor fella!!! For your sake though, I hope the smell dissipates soon. Peeeuuuww!

Oh my goodness what a cutie! I am sorry I don't have tips against skunk stink we don't have them around here.

Aw man! That sucks! He looks totally adorable in that photo, though. You probably weren't feeling the love so much at the time, but what a cutie. LOL

My mom's dog got sprayed by a skunk while out hunting and it took them months to get the smell out of my stepdad's car. Our suggestion was to just douse the car in kerosene and burn it. They used a ton of different products on it to get the smell out, but time (and leaving the windows open 24/7) was the best cure. Not possible this time of year for you, though!

Here you go, make lemonade out of these lemons LOL:

lol! Thanks P! That's actually the perfect kit for this situation! ;)

Awwww, how can you resist such a sweet face?? He's adorable! But yeah... skunk... ugh!!

Aw, poor guy! Hope he's over the trauma and your house smells better soon!

Awww Poor Koda!! He looks very sad about the situation. Such a cutie!

When this happened to Leo, it was awful because he was hit at close range and I had the deck door open when it happened, so the entire cloud of spray pretty much blew into the house. I ended up using two things that really helped: Nature's Miracle Skunk Odor Remover (I used it on him and the house!) and a Charcoal Air Purifying Bag (absorbed much of the odor). My heart goes out to you. I know from personal experience what a hideous smell it is - and how hard it is to remove. Poor Leo's face smelled like skunk every time he got wet for at least 6 months after that, despite the baths and deskunking.

oh no! Poor Koda. He's gorgeous those, and with those eyes, he must be very hard to resist!
