Welcome to the second week of the April Monthly Muse which is all about backgrounds. This week, we are going to focus on using blocking with color and/or patterns/paper with shapes i.e. circles, rectangles, diamonds. You can create your blocked background by stamping color/pattern with brushes or you may use paper. The second step is to overlay with a repeating pattern which can help draw attention to your page. April Muse: Week 2 - Color Blocking and Shapes Step 1 - create color blocking on your background with brushes and/or paper. Step 2 - create a repeating pattern of shapes i.e. circles, diamonds, squares....to draw attention were desired. Here are some ideas to get you thinking. Here's my page, I used patterned paper to create my blocks and then merged a photo overtop of them. I used brushes to add the repeating circles. You may create any style of layout (ie. clean and simple, artsy, pocket style etc.) you wish, with or without photos. Create any size page you wish. This is for everyone, so have fun and see where the inspiration takes you. If you want all 4 Muses ( 1 for each week this month) on one page that's perfectly ok or you can make 4 separate pages!! It's totally up to you! Please post your layout to the Art Journaling Gallery HERE prior to April 30, 2019 and then post it in this thread by copying the code (at the right of your gallery image) from the box under "Share BB Code". We will draw a winner at the beginning of next month for a coupon!! You can use any products in The Lilypad store or retired products from current Lilypad designers, (just make sure you follow our gallery guidelines).
Hope this is what you had in mind. https://the-lilypad.com/forum/galleries/04-19_wk2_background_magnolia.392520/
I used Rachel Jefferies template for a start and modified a lot, then used papers from CD Muckosky to create color blocks. Used SWL paperstyle template for triangle shapes. Finally added a line drawing of face from Rebecca to the pinkish block because it sort of looks like a dress and a poem about triangles as the focus. Did I mention that this was soo much fun.
@Rikki made a fabulous template for the Pink Reptile Designs blog that is perfect for this technique. http://pinkreptiledesigns.blogspot.com/2018/11/blog-challenge-november.html

I used a paper from NBK Designs then used a watercolor brush to add blocks of color. Then I used a brush by Anna Aspnes to add the subtle circles. Finally I added the bevel I almost always add to my ATC's.
