@AnneofAlamo This was a tough one. Sorry I didn't make chat, but I decided to play anyway. This really was tough, I almost didn't do it. I mostly feel like the worst mother ever. But I know that's not true (I But I decided to do it and write just a snippet of how I feel. Thank you for the challenge!

I was dreading Mother’s Day 2016, the first since my Mom died, but the family really stepped up. Eric and Andrew made Angie and I a fabulous roast fillet with all the trimmings and Rosie spoiled me with choccies and a Willow Tree Figurine. She knows how much I love them. The irony is that I used to resent it (just a bit) when she was alive. I made Mother’s Day all about her and felt quite overlooked and now that she is gone, my feelings have totally changed, but it’s a tad late.

    1) The story of me getting ill for the first time ever since I became a mom.
    2) A framed card of a freaked out woman. I don't have many photos of me and I don't like posting them.
    3) Three hearts: done!
    4) Doily: done! (bottom right corner)
    5) Flowers: many!
    6) journaling:
card 1: Oh man... I got Mommy flu. It's just like the regular flu except... No one gives a !@#$ haha!!
card 2: In March 2017, all three of us were sick. It lasted longer for me, because I was the only one who couldn’t just stay in bed... This status update with the mommy flu was posted by Chippi at TLP forum. It’s so true it made me laugh!

    special thanks to @Chippi !

Whew! :wub This is the slowest scrap I've ever done! I actually could have taken longer but after all the effort I put in I wanted to turn it in on time.

I couldn't think of a story so I decided to look through my journals from the two year spread these photos were taken, to find mentions of my mom, and that took HOURS, not surprisingly, because reading old journals always amuses and fascinates me. And it was hard finding mentions of my mom. They were few and far between. I mostly wrote about college and my social life. :giggle

I never found any really interesting story, but I'll share anyway . . .

November 15, 1990 Today was a cool day spent shopping with Mom. First we got our picture taken at Sears. It was a long wait so we looked at stereos and refrigerators and picked out a vacuum for Grandma while we waited. Then we went shopping in the new, improved, LARGER Parkway Plaza. I am impressed! We spent about three hours . . . I bought a few Christmas presents as well as some things for myself. . . California Christmas ... shirts . . . the one I got has a surfing reindeer that says, “Like, have a totally awesome Christmas, dude.”

January 26, 1991 . . . I walked out to the kitchen where I found a note from Mom. She took Coco to the vet. . . We took care of Alex for about an hour when Sheri went to the doctor . . . I went with Mom to a fabric store . . . Then we brought Alave lunch from Rally’s . . .

February 8, 1991 Today I wore leggings with a t-shirt and cardigan. The t-shirt was so long it showed beneath the cardigan. Complaining about this to Mom, she said, “It doesn’t matter. Who’s going to be looking at the tail of your shirt?” I answered, “I know my husband is out there somewhere.”

    March 25, 1991 It’s so complicated! Sheri
and I are trying to plan a dinner for Mom
(a surprise). Our first plan was blown away.
I’ve called her about twenty times already
    this morning. It’s funny.

April 1, 1991 I love it when I get phone
messages. Mom always leaves a note on my
desk: “Kavitha called at 3:30” or whatever.
It makes me feel thought of.

    May 15, 1991 Mommy’s making me a beautiful
sundress. The fabric is blue with colorful
    big flowers all over!

June 11, 1991 Today I learned to poach chicken. Mom kept correcting me:
it’s “poach” not “boil”! The chicken salad is delicious.
June 21 I helped mom stain a cabinet for the bathroom... I went grocery
    shopping with Mom on Monday.

November 25, 1991 My birthday was fun. . . Mom made a chicken stir fry
dish and yellow cake with coconut! She gave me a jewelry music box, a
boom box with double tape deck, a renewal of Glamour, and a magnet with
a hug poem. After dinner and presents, and cake and ice cream, we played
games - Scattergories and Taboo. It was a lot of fun.

Almost forgot to do this. Text says: As you can see, I inherited my silliness from my lovely mom! You are the best mom. I love your smile, your sense of humor, and your enthusiasm for life.
