Mockingjay

woohoo! I picked up The Hunger Games yesterday! I'm excited to get some reading in this weekend with everyone gone!!!

You guys are really tempting me to get an ebook version but I think I'll try to be strong and wait until I can get it from the library.

I just saw that its on sale for something like $8.42 at Amazon right now... Ebook version that is....

I finished this a couple of days ago and I've gotta tell you, I'm still thinking about it too but something is definitely bothering me about it tho. The fact that the "happy" ending is summed up in about a page and a half, really left me a little flat. It was a very meaning page and a half but still. ALL of THAT and now just this... I'm trying to get my head into something else so that I can get my mind off of the craziness/doom feeling that was that last book :rofl All of those books in fact :dizzy

Has anyone else finished yet?

I felt the same way Jenni. Something about the ending left me feeling a little unsettled.

Everyone I know has said the same thing about this book - that the ending was rushed! I didn't feel that though, I thought it was really cleverly paced. It's hard to say more without giving away any spoilers so I will shut up until everyone has finished! :lol

i think i'm going to order these soon - i'm finishing up a book now - and i had started eat pray love, but i don't think i'm going to finish that - so these will be next for me :)

I don't know if I would say rushed...just that the thing as a whole let me shaken I guess

Thanks to this thread I have read Hunger Games on Wednesday, Catching Fire on Thursday and now I'm wanting to go get Mockingjay today!! Great books, although at first I didn't want to read them...I'm not a fan of the basic concept. I could barely get through The Lottery in highschool.

Yes, that's what I meant when I said it was cleverly paced. The changes in narrative (detailed sections then summary sections) really helped keep it edgy. There's enough 'happy ending' to finish the story properly, but that brief ending and all the chopping and changing keep that disturbing, make-you-think edge to it. I thought it was very cleverly balanced.

hee hee hee, because of this thread, I put a request in at the library I am 106 on the list! LOL

I just finished mockingjay tonight and I'm still digesting. Not sure how i feel about the ending either. I am kind of confused about everything that happened at the end and then all of a sudden it's over and the "happy" ending is there and gone and it's over? I don't want to say too much and ruin it either... But i do have questions!

I am always hard on the last book of a series. I think i get mad at the author for daring to finish the series when I don't want it to end. I hated breaking dawn for the same reason. Off to ponder for awhile. :)

Yeah, I'm still thinking about these books. Real or not real? :lol3
