As long as it's recognizable as a tag, that's fine
Can we use blog hop freebies? Thanks!
If the freebie has been put up in the store for sale, yes. Some designers do this, some don't.
If it's not in the store you can still use it, but the freebie can only comprise 25% of your page max, and the rest of your product must be in the store.
I am very new. I was wondering with the first challenge do you want 2 separate elements for the flower and leaves or can I use one that contains both.
Regarding the 75% is it number of elements or size?
I have used some free elements that I acquired from the store does that factor into the 75 or the 25.
If the challenge requires a picture of your own (or gives you the option of using your own) is that considered to be part of the 25%.
How do overlays and textures count. I blend a lot of my work with a percentage of the the overlay or texture.
Sorry for all the questions, I am sure I will have more.
@Cinzia - Welcome to MOC! So glad to have you playing along!
In answer to your questions -
If you have one element that is a flower and a leaf combined, that's fine, as long as both flower and leaf are easily visible.
Regarding the use of products:
The 75% is more of a ballpark/visual. We don't actually count your products and multiply or divide. We just need to be able to recognize that roughly three quarters of your page is current TLP product.
If the freebies are in the store, they would count in your 75%. If they are not currently in the store they would be considered part of the 25%
Photos are not part of the formula since those aren't technically product.
Overlays and textures are a little harder to visualize on the page since they tend to blend in with other product. Again, it's more of a judgment call. If your credit list has 10 overlays or textures that aren't TLP, and 4 other products that are, then it doesn't hit the 75/25 mark. We really just ask that for this event, you strive to have about three quarters of your page be current TLP product.
Hopefully this helps you a bit. If you have any other questions, don't be afraid to ask!
What version of PSE are the instructions for? I have PSE14 and am having a very difficult time sorting out the steps for the challenges according tho the posted directions. I am trying to YouTube things but still struggling. (Trying to figure out how to do the reverse mask layer as an example)
@cfile - can you help us out here? Thank you!
I have PSE 15 on my computer and the instructions for turning the photo black and white are the same and also for the reverse mask but be aware the little icon Christa shows may be up the top of your layers palette.
I have PSE14. Where are you getting stuck? I'll grab some screenshots for you.
Thank you - I found it!
SO, I am very tech challenged which is great because I am learning new things with these challenges but it can be painful for me at times! LOL! I think I have done okay through step 6 now except that as soon as I added a reverse layer mask I couldn't see my b & w picture any longer. In order to avoid steps 7 & 8 I purchased the Just Jaimee masks that were recommended. But now I am not sure how to add / clip the mask (as pictured in step 7).
@slfam You would add in the mask as a layer. Then clip the photo to the mask. Let me open the program.
I did that but all I can see is the mask itself. The right side bar shows it is clipped but the workspace just shows the mask itself.
@slfam do you have the mask on the layer below your photo?
With using the mask layer like in Christa's instructions it hides your black and white photo so that then you use the brush with white nor black for the color and paint in your black and white photo. You do need to click on the mask layer showing the layers palette beside your black and white photo as it needs to be active. You use a soft edge brush so you can achieve the blended look.
Here is a video that may help you if not now for the future.
@bestcee because I can't see the black and white photo clipped to the mask I can't do step 10
While I grab those, I did make a video for you @slfam
Is there any audio or just video? I can't hear anything.
Okay, here's a screenshot for you:
To fix yours,
Delete the layer mask on your photo layer. Then clip it.
