My 5 cents worth(cos what can 2 cents get you these days?): **Somewhere along the line someone told us that our work was not "right" and that meant to us that we were not good enough. We humans avoid what we are not good at. My high school Art teacher HATED my work and nearly said that verbally. Always put it to the back of class displays. :( My college prof was different- thank God for her! Art is subjective, thereby not right or wrong. It is self expression and we ALL can do that and should applaud that. **

@NancyP Have you looked at mine yet? That should be reason enough to be encouraged. :-) I went with the approach that a one-line drawing isn't meant to be perfect. I actually laughed out loud at some of mine. Remember to have fun with this exercise.

Amazingly, I've only seen this today. Where have I been? However, I used to follow a blog - Mary Ann Moss
and she and her sister do drawings like this without looking at them! I must say I found a lot of them darn right ugly (judgement, judgement...) but this was fun. The hardest part was finding a pencil! I've given almost all of mine away to the Boys and Girls club since...who uses pencils any more?

I think because I scanned it at 600dpi the computer ate the first try so I scanned it again and it cut off my name. Maybe that's a wise thing...LOL

@NancyP , I agree with what people are saying about baggage. Just go for it, what's the worse thing that can happen? You "waste" one piece of paper and not enough charcoal on a pencil to even sharpen it? I say GO FOR IT!

OK, before I read part 2, I'm uploading my practice. I thought it would get better. Mostly I was working from photographs, and none of these resemble the original in the least. Shortly I'll find out if any are useable.

That example is fabulous. I have no idea how to color my drawing (digitally). Well, some idea, maybe, but no skill.

I used the Paint Bucket Tool , pick a colour and drop in the colours into each section of the drawing.

I do not do well with faces, so I left hers empty. I also did it with my wacom, not a drawing pad for scanning issues. This was a lot harder then I expected lol but fun! moving on to step two shortly :D
