Hello everyone !

I don’t know if this is the case everywhere, but in France it’s Labour Day. It’s a public holiday and very few shops are open.

We have a tradition too : giving a bouquet of lily of the valley as a good luck charm.

So this morning, let me treat you to a virtual bouquet (from my garden, though not from this year).

@Gaelle those flowers are so pretty.
We have our Public Holiday on Monday - we call them Bank Holiday's they are always on Mondays. We have May Day on the first Monday of May. Growing up is was a day for street parties. They are rare now though.

We have our Labor Day the first Monday of September here in the US. I love the tradition of giving a bouquet of those pretty flowers as a good luck charm! Our Labor Day signals the end of summer here and back to school for the kids in most states.

From Google: Labor Day in the United States is a federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September that honors the American labor movement and the contributions of workers to the nation's strength, prosperity, and well-being.

Hahah I could have used a day off from Labor today! I'm beat! Also, I love lily of the valley!!

We celebrate Workers Day on the 1st of May. Which used to be a public holiday for workers. But now all the shops and restaurants are still open so there isn't too much point in it. We do have a long weekend which is wonderful. Love the sweet blooms Gaelle.

Happy labour day! I love lily of the valley so much, we had them in the yard growing up and they always remind me of my mom. What a great tradition!

In Malaysia, all shops are open. Best time to make $. Banks and offices are closed. Rest day for me.

Thank you Gaelle! I love learning about how things are done in other countries. Besides the true meaning of Labor Day in the U.S., celebrating workers gaining basic rights like reasonable length of work days, it is considered the end of summer. Not for me though, since I returned to working in public school in 2021. My school district starts the school year in early August, so we're already done with the first month of school before we have our first three day weekend for Labor Day. August no longer feels very summer-y to me, cooped up inside an air conditioned school for most of the days.

Beautiful flowers! I’m currently trying to decide what to give my mom for Mother’s Day this Sunday and flowers is one option.

What a nice tradition of giving flowers. In Canada, Labour Day is the first Monday in September (same as the US).

What a lovely tradition. My mom used to have Lillie’s of the Valley on the side of our house. I always liked them. Our Labor Day always reminds me that the new school year is here!
