Happy June, friends! Welcome to this month's photography challenge. We are going to take some portraits this month. Now, I have to confess that when I hear the word "portrait" my mind goes to studio shots and yearbook photos. That's not what I have in mind for this challenge. I did a little research and there seems to be a general concensus around the web that portrait photography should capture the personality of the subject. One blogger (William Been) went as far as to say that portraits of people tell their story. That is what we are all about here at The Lilypad! Your challenge is to take (and scrap) a portrait of someone - and try to capture a bit of their personality. It can be candid or posed, just the face or the whole body, inside, outside...whatever helps to tell his/her story. Here's my page using a shot of my middle daughter. I got lucky with this one as she looked up at me just before I took it. We were outside playing with water balloons and I think it captures her happiness at stepping into summer. Hope you enjoy the challenge. I'm looking forward to seeing some beautiful portraits! Gentle Reminder: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the June Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread. The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month: 2 challenges = 10% off 4 challenges = 20% off 6 challenges = 30% off If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges).
