We are fortunate to have a fantastic museum devoted to Salvador Dali here in Florida. I was never really inspired by his paintings until I saw some of them in person - hooked! So, I created an ATC using one of his most famous works, "The Persistence of Memory".
I was inspired by this art- the random pieces were so fun to create! Fun to be 'imperfect'! https://uploads7.wikiart.org/images/conrad-marca-relli/cunard-l-8-62-1962.jpg!PinterestLarge.jpg Here's my layout:
I used Edouard Manet's Olympia. I think it might be my favourite piece of impressionist art. I even went as her for Hallowe'en one year, wearing a robe, but with the flower in my hair, and the bracelet, necklace, earrings and shoes. I started off dividing up my background into two sections, with a line of gold in between, like Manet's. I then placed my elements over the focal points (the woman holding the flowers, and Olympia's face) Last but not least, I filled out the light space in the painting with other elements.
I found this photo of my daughter on FB and I think it's one of the best selfies she ever took. She struggles so much to make her wishes and dreams come true, doing the work but realizing it will take so much time after many wasted years. My inspiration was this image of another woman in white and I went for simple oil paint but in a more modern way. https://www.wikiart.org/en/paintings-by-style/impressionism?select=featured
As a kid I wanted to be a painter. I had to abbandon my dream when I failed the exams for the Art school... While browsing wikiart, I boohoo-ed: "I can never paint like them...". But wait, now I have Photoshop! The other day on FB, Kate Hadfield shared a link to an awesome watercolor tutorial. I've made a sample with it and it turned out fantastic. Why not use it for the challenge?
I took inspiration from this painting HERE and used reflection as my theme. My main BG represents reflection, as well as many of the elements are reflected from corner to corner. I also made a reflecting title too.
I used this painting for my inspiration, taking the placement/sizing of my photos from the elements in the painting. https://www.wikiart.org/en/carl-holsoe/girl-in-an-interior-1900
I was totally inspired by this piece https://www.wikiart.org/en/profile/593af383edc2c95ee0c9bd4f/albums/favourites
I took inspiration from the color blocks in this painting: https://www.wikiart.org/en/ben-nicholson/june-1937-painting-1937 This is what I ended up with:
I used "Landscape with Birch Trunks" & let the shape of the trees inspire me. ( https://www.wikiart.org/en/paula-modersohn-becker/landscape-with-birch-trunks )
I also used Eric Zammitt for inspiration, but two of them to do it my way -- Blue-Grey-Black Square and Earth to Sky, Horizontal --
Such a great challenge, @Jeanet! I took my inspiration from the angled lines of this sculpture: https://www.wikiart.org/en/ronald-bladen/three-elements-1965
I'm completely inspired now after just catching up on leaving some comments. To think that so many were so nervous about this challenge and yet everyone is creating masterpieces. Well done everyone ♥
I love all of the inspiration in this thread and at Wiki Art! Fun Challenge I was inspired by the flow of light in this painting, Air Terjun by Abdullah Suriosubroto
