Can you believe it's day 6 already?!?

When I participated in MOC 2018 I could not have imagined to become a polly and host a MOC challenge in 2019… But it’s a dream come true and here is my challenge for you!

I'm a huge fan of cutout's, but I love to think outside the box so I want you to use it another way: use a quote/journaling/handwritten brush and create a shape in it by using an element of choice.

On this page I wrote a journaling and made a cutout in it with a star shape
    [IMG]

On this page I wrote some lyrics of my favorite song and used different fonts writing it, I used a heart shape to create a cut out in my journaling
    [IMG]

The rules of this challenge are:
    1. Have a quote, journaling, word art or handwritten brush prominently displayed on your page
    2. Cut a shape out of your quote, journaling, word art or brush. Your shape should be clearly visible and showing your background. You may have pictures or elements around or on top of your shape but at least 2/3 should be showing.
    3. You can use any shape you like, but you can use only one for your page

Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places:
    1. Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site).
    2. Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean.
    3. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish.
Pages should contain at least 75% current Lilypad product (currently for sale in the store from either permanent designers or guest designers).

Updates and clarifications to my challenge will be posted here as necessary

A quik example of using a cut-out for a text or journaling:
Open a background, write a journaling or use a handwritten brush and add an element of choice.
    You have 3 layers now

    UITLEG 1.png
select the layer with the element on it (see example)
    selection => LOAD SELECTION
You can see walking ants around your elements (I've added an extra picture showing it in the example)
now go to the layer of your text/journaling and press DELETE
Go back to the layer with your element and make it invisible (or delete it) now your journaling wil have a cutout.

    There's a wonderful tutorial made by @cfile

This will be fun! I especially like your page with the star cut-out.

Here's a question - after I cut a shape out of my text / journaling / brush, can I put an element or photo inside the empty space? The cut-out will still be completely visible, just partially filled in with something that is not the text / journaling / brush.

    thanks!

The background must be showing in the cutout

I really have no idea how to do what you are asking. I did a cut-out in paper once for a challenge here but it has been months ago. I have a vague recollection of were to start but the previous challenge was not the same as what you are asking regarding journaling, I do not think. Can you please provide instructions on how you did your page so people can follow along?

I’ve known how to do this, but don’t do this often enough. I always need a tutorial to be able to do this because I forget how to create a text path that actually works. So yeah, instructions are needed!!

    ETA 1:
I do know that Scrapping with Liz has templates with text in numbers and letters. Are we allowed to use those?

    ETA 2:
Wait, you just cut out a shape out of the journaling? Or did you create your journaling in a shape form?
I personally don’t want to cut up my journaling because it’s there for a reason.

I’m so confused about this challenge!

    1. You have to use an element of choice to create a cutout
    2. You cut out a shape in your journaling, but if you don't want that you can use a handwritten brush; I've used lyrics of a song on my second page. It's all about the effect

You can always cut out the shape out of a quote, or repeated word, or say part of your journaling, but then include any additional journaling you need somewhere else on your page. (Or cut out the shape but keep a copy of all your journaling, so if you want to print it without the cut out you can.) I am cutting my shape out of a song I repeated a couple of times, but then will have journaling on a journal card as well. (I am not quite done my layout so don't have it to show yet.
