I really liked this challenge. It stretched me and forced me to think how I would melt pooch into the page...in addition to the photo treatment. I also used a textured paper with blending mode.
This was fun! I played around with filters till I found the right one for the photo. This is a closeup of my step-son on Christmas...I used the POSTER Edges filter on the photo. I can't even begin to tell you what I did exactly on this photo. I started with what you showed up top, but then it went it's own way...baby girl came in and wanted love...and then I forgot what I was doing! LOL It's hard to even see it here...but when it's just the photo and enlarged I see all the processing. I should print this one out so I can see it clearly!
I used a combination of Poster Edges for the main part of the photo and paint daubs for the background (which was too busy otherwise).
I enjoyed doing this. It's always fun to play around and see what you can get! I used your tutorial and changed some colors and added a piece of paper, beads, and paint. Fun. Fun. https://the-lilypad.com/gallery/sho...an-5-moc-daydream-believer-photo-tech&cat=500

Sometimes I will run a paint effect on outdoor scenes such as this one. It softens and smooths out the edges.
I tried something TOTALLY different for me. Since these guys were posing in pretend toy packaging in the bottom picture, I decided to use the plastic wrap filter over the top of them. Now it looks like they're actually behind plastic in the box. Fun challenge!
