January 5: Clean & Simple style Welcome to Day 5 of MOC 2021!!! The challenge for today is a style challenge: Create a Clean & Simple Layout Sometimes less is more and today it's your turn to show this. Clean and simple pages are also called minimalistic - a minimal amount of elements that complement your photo and force you to focus your eye on a small part of the page. In your clean & simple layout every element "counts", so take your time to find what works best. You can work with a simple frame around your picture, some paint or splatter and a few additional elements - usually no more than about 6 elements are needed to create a wonderful looking clean page. Additional elements can be a flower, a button, a tag, a doily ... think small! Concentrate on one small area of your page - remember that you only need a small part "decorated" to create the clean & simple look! To finish off your page, it always looks beautiful if you add a simple piece of Word Art or a few sentences of journaling. Don't forget that also shadows are important here. I love minimalistic layouts!!! So I created three different example layouts for you: (For credits please click on the layout) For this page I used a clean background paper, a photo, paint splatter, a word art and 2 extra elements: a tag and the small drawing Here I created a clean layout using a background paper which isn't extremely clean. Extras are the frame around the picture, background paint, a flower, sequins and the word art. All together 4 extra elements + word art... In this layout I wanted to show you that sometimes also a layout without shadows can look beautiful... White background, two word arts and my own text in addition to the photo, very clean and simple! Now it's your turn to create a clean & simple page! Please don't forget to follow the rules... I can't wait to see your creations!!! The special rules for this challenge: Please create a really "clean" page. Don't forget: try to use only a few elements! * Use a neutral/solid (only one color-"family", if with pattern than a very small/light pattern...) background paper and no additional paper (also no extra paper stripe or something like this) * You are allowed to use (you needn't use all, but listed here is the maximum amount!) - one photo - some paint/small splatter - no more than 5 (small) additional elements Additional elements can for example be a frame, a flower, a button, a tag, a doily, sequins or something different ... think small! - some (extra) journaling/a word art/title is allowed, but remember to keep it simple - please do not use a journal card * Your photo and elements can take up only 1/4 of your page - the rest of your page must not have any elements or photos * The use of a template is not allowed! The general requirements: Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places: Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site). Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish. Your page must contain Lilypad product (pages with photos and font only do not count). If you use product from other stores, your pages must contain at least 75% current Lilypad product (currently for sale in the store from either permanent designers or guest designers).
Thankyou for a nice easy challenge as it is now 9.30pm Wednesday night and I can now go to bed without thinking about what Day 5 challenge will be.
I have made this, but now noticed the no extra paper anywhere clause, so I will rethink it. but for now it's a place holder if you will so here is a new page to replace the first, with today's picture
Background paper: Sahlin Studio Kindred Paint splatter: Sahin Designs Merry Maker Washi: Sahin Designs Travelogue Arrow, cork star and Into The Woods bit: Sahin Designs Getaway
1 paper 1 paint (burlap with heart is part of the paint) 1 photo extra elements: frame, flower, stitched date tag, phrase
thank you for challenging me. This is a bit more minimalist than I'm used to going, but I think I like it.
I used 5 additional items: the bokeh effect in the lower left of my photo, happy element, flowers, stars, beads.
