JANUARY 18: Create Your Own Cluster Hello challenge participants! For this challenge you get to make some clustery goodness on your page!! The spirit of this challenge is to create a layered look using a variety of element types grouped together. clus·ter /ˈkləstər/ noun: a group of similar things or people positioned or occurring closely together. So, what constitutes a cluster? You must create a cluster which consist of at least 12 overlapping elements. Each element within your cluster must be shadowed to convey depth. Cluster elements can be any combination of items from the following list: flowers, butterflies, stars, gears, flags, fans, snowflakes, flairs, stickers, frames, branches, leaves, foliage, ribbons/bows, tags, doilies, pre-made paper tears/bits, banners or scatters Rules Recap: You must design a cluster using at least 12 elements with visible drop shadows from the list above Elements must continuously overlap each other together to be considered part of your cluster Since the spirit of this challenge is to create and design your own cluster, templates (of any type) and pre-made clusters are not allowed You must list out the 12 items you are considering part of your cluster when you post your layout to this thread Clarifications: There is no limit on how many items or clusters you can have on your page, but there has to be at least one cluster that meets the above criteria Items that are not part of your cluster do not have to be shadowed Photos are optional You may use items not on the list, such as alphas, photos, staples, brushes, paint, journaling, background papers, clipped-papers and stitches, but they do not count toward your required number of cluster elements Each cluster element must be on its own layer (for example, a bead scatter or a sticker with multiple flowers or combination of flowers & leaves would each count as one element) Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places: Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site). Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish. Pages should contain at least 75% current Lilypad product (currently for sale in the store from either permanent designers or guest designers) Here is my page: ... and another sample for reference: Pollywog Inspiration: MiekSter / Annemieke Need more inspiration? This post is reserved for clarifications * A quick note: For those of you who read through what others are considering part of their clusters. In instances where items that aren't considered cluster elements are listed, but the total number of items on their page meets the 12 element challenge criteria (listed or unlisted), I am not asking people to update their descriptions or sending messages. Paint, stitches, brushes, etc are not considered cluster elements. Q: Can the same element be used more than once? A: The same item can be used more than once as long as the finished product uses a variety of element types. Q: Can the page be hybrid? A: Absolutely! Just make sure the elements you include in your cluster aren’t flat on the page. Q: Are buttons considered cluster elements? A: While buttons aren't on the list element list, I will accept pages that have a button or two as long as the spirit of the challenge has been preserved. Q: Are journaling cards considered cluster elements? A: Journaling cards are considered pre-made paper bits for purposes of this challenge and will be accepted as a cluster element. Q: Can feathers be considered cluster elements? A: While feathers aren't on the list element list, I will accept them as elements. Q: Can I use a template if it doesn't have a cluster? A: Your page may not contain a template, regardless of template type.
