    Hey, Hey Scrappers,

Welcome to day 17 of our MOC 12!

For today's challenge you will feature string as a prominent part of your layout.

String comes in all different sizes, textures and colors. It goes by many names - string, thread, yarn, twine, shoelaces, cord, rope, etc. It helps us connect things together and hang things. Strings lace up our shoes, tie up our packages, and are sometimes also made into beautiful works of art.

Let's have some fun playing with string! Be creative and use it in a way you might not have originally thought of.

Here's just a few ideas you could do with string to help you get those creative juices flowing, or you're welcome to come up with an idea of your own.
    • create a shape with string (like I did in my example below)
    • use string to tuck and "hold down" some of your elements or photos
    • use string to create letters or words in your title
    • use string to create texture on your background

No matter how you use it, string should be a prominent part of your layout. I want to see string as a BIG part of your page. Dig into your digital scrapping stash or grab some new strings from the TLP store, and have fun playing with strings to create your layout!

    MY EXAMPLE:
    MOC12_17_HollyJolly_Dec19_800web.jpg
    Credits:
Tis the Season kit by Kristin Aagard; CU Twine 2 (modified) by Kristin Aagard; Stay Curious: Punctured Paper Holes (modified) by Rachel Jefferies; font | prestige elite std bold

    POLLY EXAMPLES:
    MOC12_17_PollyExamples_800web.jpg
    • Ann recolored the twine to create a string art star to hold her photo.
    • Karen strung up a Christmas tree.
    • Stefanie tucked her photos in behind the strings to hold them down on the page.
    • Marijke outlined her camera photo with messy threads.
    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Feature string as a prominent (BIG) part of your layout.
    • Your layout does not need to have photos, but it can if you want.
    • TLP templates, brushes, styles, etc. are allowed. Please credit what you use.
    NOTES:

Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places:
    1. Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site).
    2. Posted in your page thread that you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean.
    3. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish.
Your page must contain Lilypad product (pages with photos and font only do not count). Product from other stores will not be allowed for MOC; your pages must contain 100% Lilypad product (current or retired product from designers or guest designers presently selling at The Lilypad).

I can't wait to see how you use strings on your layouts! :woot:yesss:yippee

    saving for questions

Q: Does stitching count as string? Or do you really want strings?
A: Yes stitching is string, and would count for the challenge as long as you feature it as a prominent part of your layout. Just using a little stitching isn't really within the spirit of the challenge. I can't wait to see how you feature your stitching. :agree

Q: Can we use String Bats? I'm going to assume yes, I see other people using them.
A: Yes, you can use string bats. Any TLP string products are allowed. Remember to make sure string is a prominent part of your layout design. :agree

Thankyou Kayla for this challenge and thankyou for showing me those Punctured Holes by Rachel Jefferies which I purchased. I used to do a bit of that sort of hole punching in my paper scrapbooking.

I loved the idea of making a shape with straight pieces of string but I couldn't find one! So I made a sort of frame. I also have some Stringbats snowflakes by Kim Jensen and crocheted snowflakes in Winter Wishes by Gina Miller.

I used a couple of strings from Paula's Sea Life, duplicated and connected to make waves, although it was a pretty calm day. LOL.

I did a Google search on the name of the ship. While it was in Savannah, Georgia on November 11, 2023, it is currently in the waters around India. Yikes!

I've been itching to use this string dandelion by Kim Jensen for something all month long and this challenge was perfect.
