Do you ever get overwhelmed by your email inbox? I'm having one of those weeks where it feels like I just can't catch up. :dizzy

Right now, I have 400 in the unread and I don't even know how many in the read. I've tried unsubscribing from mailing lists and other things, but I swear the email just keeps growing. I know I need to just set aside time to really hack through and cut out a lot of the random email newsletters and stuff that I get, but it is so time consuming.

All I want to do is take some time to scrap (or post in the forums), but now the inbox task being undone is draining my psychic energy. :giggle

Am I the only one?

Ugh. I think I'd go a little crazy if I had that much in my inbox. I think it helps that I have email on my phone and I check it periodically through the day while my computer is thinking or at my breaks. That way I can weed out the junk and keep up on everything else. I have about 40 in my inbox and I don't like even having that much! Mostly it's comments on my pages that I keep until I leave love back. Otherwise, I have lots of folders in my email that stuff gets stored to, so it's out of my inbox!

You are definitely not the only one. I get about 100+ emails daily at work and it can get overwhelming. I added my personal emails to my phone so I can better manage them, but they still pile up. Ack!

Some of the items in my inbox i dont even read at all. i just delete. I get so overwhelmed with it, that I jusrt delete them. Especially if I dont check my email for a couple of days when im away. But I read all my family emails though:)

I gave up keeping "caught up" on my inbox years ago. I have rules that sort a lot of the stuff into folders as it comes in, and I've been unsubscribing from just about everything I can lately, but it's still a constant flood. I've just learned to accept it.

I'm like Karen by checking it periodically it doesn't overwhelm me so much.

I am just as overwhelmed as you. I get about 100 emails a day and I try to sort through them as I can throughout the day but sometimes fall behind. A lot of them just get deleted as they are just notifications from Facebook. But, it is still hard to weed through them all. When I came home from our 10 day vacation in Feb., I had 1200 emails to sort through. Ugh.

I get overwhelmed though at "old" emails. Like what should I keep and what should I get rid of? I have emails from like 2007 that are still chillin' in my inbox. If only there were more of me to go around so that I could get it cleaned up and organized.

Personal email: 6575 in my inbox (only 38 unread)
1000s more archived in case I need to get something from them (yeah, right!)

Work email: 6885 in my inbox (all read - but need to retrieve via search sometimes)
1000s more archived

I think I have a problem... packrat anyone?

One thing I did recently to cut back was unsubscribe from all the scrap stores I don't visit much, spam as much crap as possible and then I still had too much so I take it all once or twice a week and move it to a folder of "all mail stuff" and pick out the important ones to keep in my inbox so I can reply.

What kind of mail is it? Are you subscribed to a lot? OH, I kept my subscriptions to a few scrap stores, martha stewart and some recipes and created a folder for those to go into using a rule in outlook. That helps a lot too... so you can see what's important and what's just there when you have time.

I spent three hours yesterday cleaning out old e-mails from my 7 inboxes....my head was spinning when I was done....
