So how do you get back on track?
I got week 1 done and I'm happy with it, but I don't have anything for the following weeks. :hissy
I do have some photos, not daily but some, they are pretty dull, what I ate, stupid stuff cuz I do the same ol thing pretty much...

I've decided I'm going to focus on the month to month instead of the week to week and not worry about how much I have for any given week. I am going to fill out the highlights of our week cards that Emily Merrit designed but other than that it will be a mishmash of stuff and photos and journaling (at least that's what I'm envisioning). I'm also planning on doing sort of a monthly roundup at the end (sort of like Katie Nelson's but all in a pocket pages)...I'll list the places the went, the tv shows we watched, books we read, things we bought...that sort of thing. A lot of times our week to week is pretty humdrum (I've been known to go almost a week without leaving the apartment) but there's always a few good photo ops in any given month...as for making sure everything is balanced, I'm not worried about it...if some months have more stuff than others it's most likely because that month was just more full overall. Of course, I'm still waiting for the plastics so I'm panicking a little bit myself over getting it all done.

I've used books we're reading, what I'm listening to, our Friday night movie (which sometimes is on Saturday!), and my husband's weekly comp log (the number of books he's read in preparation for his comprehensive exams in May). If you Facebook, your status updates are a wealth of fun stuff (this week I'll be highlighting a funny conversation between my son and his friend at the bus stop and my husband's post about not wanting to change clothes twice a day because of the heat.)

There is a great thread at Studio Calico where people are sharing incredible lists of ideas/things to include (I hope it is okay to post that link). Maybe something there would inspire you? I felt the same about week 1, but now I've gotten it out of the way and want to get busy.

Are you doing One Little Word? Maybe, if you are, you could include that in your pages?

oh wow...these are some fabulous ideas.

and Kat...I wouldn't worry about doing a page or two a week...your next page can be weeks 2, 3, and 4 together. Just journal...a few pictures. Are you doing Project Life? I just decided that I'm not going to stress about things and have it be perfect. It is what it is!! Kind of like when I pig out on candy...I just tell myself I'll count it as a vegetable and move on!

i barely finished my title page.
and i'm positive i won't get a 2 page spread layout finished each week.
i'm shooting for month.
and then hopefully, i'll surprise myself and have more!

All that 'stupid' stuff is pretty interesting to other people. I bet when Hannah grows up she will think it's interesting!

Besides that, you are moving soon! Now how can you not have interesting photos and ephemera in prep for that? Include a whole bunch of TX stuff in your book that you are looking forward to as well as the AR things you'll miss. Maps, receipts, box labels, etc etc... the possibilities are endless!

yeah, it may seem boring now but looking back several years from now you'll be able to see how different things were, so it might be fun to do one week with just the boring stuff... Week 4 of mine had one side be taco night LOL, I thought it was fun because the kids love it so much and I wanted to document it for them... 10 years from now they might not like taco night so much, kwim? Not to mention the fact that they won't have guacamole all over there faces on taco night in 10 years LOL... but those are the moments I want to remember and record, because I won't remember them 10 years from now if it's not recorded, kwim?

This is kind of the gist of what I would say.
In fact, so many great ideas in this thread.
My suggestion would be to go as simple as possible, just put the photos in there, stick a few journal cards in and pick up where you are right now.

I am working on my 4th year of project 365. Yes, I take photos every day. My kids joke about it too as they say, can I be photo of the day today. Some days it's easy to get a photo as we are doing lots of stuff like boy scouts and girl scouts. School. Whatever. Some days I will take photos of food that we ate, books that we read, movies that we have seen. Of course, my dog gets a lot of pictures too. I have three cameras. (my iphone and my point in shoot are always in my pocketbook or on the kitchen table). My cannon only goes to special occasions. I keep a blog where I upload my photos and journaling. It helps when you get behind so you can catch up very easily. I tag all my photos with the week on the blog so when I'm doing a particular week I just click on that week and all the photos for that week will pop up. Good luck.

If you want to do it you can totally make it happen! I love the idea of having your next LO be of weeks 2, 3 & 4. Journal a little about getting behind and how you feel about it or what your plan is for moving on.

But it's not stupid stuff... it's life! :) Use the story to say more than just the pic. Take a pic of a book or tv show you love but journal a couple of lines about why you love it. Take a pic of the mac & cheese (or whatever) you had for dinner but journal about some childhood memory that it brings back. It doesn't have to be some deep revelation either, it can be or it can be silly. One week you can just practice your photog skills, like using different angles, close ups, etc. YOU CAN DO IT!! :)

Just this week I was in a funk all of a sudden, not even sure why, but b/c I was feeling down so I started questioning why I was taking these pics, what was the point? But there is value in our everyday "dull" life stuff, and it will be very cool in the future too.

I stalled two after getting Week 1 done but I caught up this weekend.

Here's what I did to catch up even though I only had one or two photos a week.

I'm only doing one page per week.
I use a 4x6 space for weekly recap instead of the smaller 3x4
For journaling, every month I'm going to do a card about the following:
Favorite Quote
TV shows that adults are watching
Movies, shows, games kids are watching/doing
Family Book we're reading (if you don't read aloud, book you are reading or your kids are reading), I just print out the cover art
Monthly card, maybe with a tiny calendar just introducing the month
Kids each get one card a month to journal
I got some Smash pads to prompt journaling too, my favorite one is the "quotes" one too.

Hang in there! I am the queen of quitting projects, but I'm determined to do this. There are so many resources here (I think this might be the best one-stop-shop for resources too, I find everything I need for PL here at the pad!)

I totally love your style Debra! :lol

I'm still in stalled mode... but then I love looking at my first week's page and thinking man, I'd never remember that down the line, heck I barely remember it now. I feel like I need to carve out some "journaling" time. I'd like to write something each day/night about my day and then scrap it when I can. Maybe that'd work better for me.

It definitely isn't an all or nothing situation. Whatever you are able to do, however you are able to work it out for yourself with time, motivation, etc. it will be worth it. I did P365 in 2010 and was driven that particular year to do it so I finished it. Last year I just wasn't in a place/state of mind to do any kind of project and I didn't. Now in 2012 I've found PL and it's working for me. Who knows what I'll be up for next year.

Good luck!! :)

I'm thinking of doing that Kat. I found a little journal and I need to put it by my desk, or maybe on my nightstand. I plan to just journal a little bit each day so I remember what's going on. Usually, if I take some pics on my iPhone, that's all I need for remembering, but if I fall behind, I'm going to need more than that!

Has anyone tried Oh, Life? It will send you an email at some point during the day and you can respond to it with your journaling. It is one way to remember the day's activities.
