I posted this LO, but have been bothered by the fact that I think the photo should look like it is indented just like the paper! Does anyone have a tip or trick to share that could help me warp my picture to look more indented and real - like it would if it was on paper like that in real life?!

Thanks in advance!!!

I'm no expert, but I wonder if you could use the burn and dodge tools to mimic the dark and light shadows on the background onto the picture.

Oh - looks like someone else had the same thought ;)

Oooo...thanks Petra! I am going to go play around - hoping it will give me the same effect!

dodge & burn directly on the photo is one way... here is a simple alternative...

add a layer over the photo/ layout page. all you need to do is add a straight line.. I started with a Black line size 3 and then glaussian blurred the line and then blended it. I duplicated and adjusted the next layer. The top layer is a white line siz 1 that I adjusted as well. (Layer pallette has what I adjusted all to)... you need to just play with the sliders in Photo Shop to get the look you want. Hope that helps!

I am running into the problem of the color of the picture changing - like my daughters hair begins to look funny with the dodge and burn tool on it. :(

That's a good idea Christa - what tool are you making the white and black lines with?!

Here is another alternative by adding a rectangle filled layer of each side of the photo and then using blend modes as I have noted in the layer pallette. Ad the end you add a black line size 1 and then glausian blur it by 2.4 right at the crease line. This version is a little easier as it is fills and blend modes. (LB in pallette is blend mode Linear Burn)

Manda I am using the brush tool hard round 1 pixel... my second adaptation is easier and looks like what I think you want.

Christa - that second options of the blocks looks great! Thanks - I will try that! Learning things I have never known and have been using Photoshop for 6+ years scrapping!

I wonder if adjusting the photo's shadow might also add to the slightly creased effect you're looking for?

Manda- I learn something new all the time :)

I was having issues with darkened photos and lightening them up and all you do is duplicate the photo layer and change the blend mode to screen. If the background gets too washed out do a mask on the screened layer and brush out the background... then if you need the subject lighter all you do is duplicate the screened layer again and change the fill (or opacity) layer until it is the way you want!

I will have to show you what I mean down the road.. hope the above hint/tip helps you with your layout and the crease. Your daughter is beautiful!

Hey Manda, you can take a look here:

http://www.photoshopatoms.com/effects/creating-a-book-effect/

You can copy the book format and put the pic upon it -choose "creating clipping mask" and you will have the book/page format!
You will have 3 layers- the page and elements layer+the book image layer+the photo

After this you can play with the burn tool in the line like the girls posted above!

Paula that is neat! I have bookmarked that and will take a look at that site too for other tutorials! Thanks for the link!:thumbsups:thumbsups
