I *think* it might have been in 2014's MOC... it was about paint going over the edge of cards/elements and onto the paper and how to make that more realistic. I remembered it, wanting to try it. Usually I Evernote or Pin tutorials I think are amazing but somehow I didn't.

Does anyone remember the one I'm talking about?

You know, I did one for the first MOC that I just realized isn't posted anywhere. If you need more info on this technique or another way to accomplish the same thing, I can post mine in the learning pad too. I'll write myself a note to do that.

Thanks, Amber and Karen. Pinned to my tutorials board and I'm going to finish off a layout with that technique tonight.

I try to use this every time I put paint or stamps over photos or papers!

One of my fav challenges ever from the MOC's! It's someting that I've kept with me ever since xx

I usually use an layer mask on the stamp and use a very small eraser and just draw an erased line along the items that would have a break in paint. It's non destructive. If you click down where you want the erased line to start and hold the shift key and click again at the end of the straight edge, you'll get a perfectly straight line. For curves, I reduce the opacity of the brush and follow the edges of the item and just erase away that amount of paint Works for me. I use PSE.

Cath what program do you use? In PS/CC

I just draw my shape, rasterize it, click on the magic wand tool then go to paths, click on that, back to layers, hide my shape and start typing.

You can actually just click right on a shape with the text tool and start typing. I've never done any of those other steps (besides hiding, although you can make a shape with no fill and no stoke for the same effect).

You have to use the shape tool though, maybe when you say draw you mean something else?

Thank you both for these.... i don't even know how many times I have moved my text or stamps around so that they weren't crossing a layer or something to look "off" once I added shadows or something later. *sigh*
