I have windows so not sure for Mac but I like Ctrl (maybe it's the command key?) + J to duplicate a layer

Hope to see your pages again soon! Have fun! And you should definitely make time. We always say "I don't have time", me first, but truly we just don't make the time. Especially for fun things

Oh my goodness, to say you've had your hands full is a big understatement! So glad you've made your way back!

My most used shortcuts are:
COMMAND-J to duplicate a layer
V to select the arrow tool
COMMAND-ALT-G to clip to the layer underneath
COMMAND-SHIFT-[ to move the layer to the top
COMMAND-SHIFT-] to move the layer to the top
COMMAND-[ to move the layer up by one
COMMAND-] to move the layer down by one

 

Welcome back! Holy moly it sounds like life has been keeping you extra busy! I hope you have a chance to fit scrapping into your schedule, if only just a bit here and there. Our stories sound similar... I scrapped for years, and then life got hectic and busy. I stepped away from scrapping, and now I'm back and trying to get into a groove again. Like you, I found that I have lost the details of so many moments and memories for the years I was away. I am hoping to prevent that going forward. Maybe we can encourage each other!! Glad you're here!
