So a bit of a techy question here, hoping someone can help, I recently (finally) updated my mac from whatever the OS was to Snow Leopard (I know I'm still behind even with that update).

Since then I've been getting an error when I try to save my layouts in Photoshop 4. When I try to save as a PSD I get this error message "Cannot save 'filename' due to system error" Saving my layout by using "save for web & device" works just fine, but saving a PSD file or TIFF does not.

Does anyone have any suggestions why this is happening and how I can fix it??

Do you mean PS 4 from like 15 years ago, or PS CS4? If it's actually PS4, it might not be compatible anymore.

i would probably try uninstalling and reinstalling PS to see if it makes a difference. something probably went wonky in your upgrade process. :(

I was going to offer the same advice. Sometimes it just hiccups in the upgrade.

before you reinstall, have you just tried adding .tiff or .psd to the end of your file's name? Sometimes I get a similar message and it took forever to figure out that was all I had to do.

Will it let you use the save as option?

Oh Yes! I should have come back here and updated! I uninstalled and reinstalled and it seems to be fine now - hope it sticks! I personally think it was just Adobe's way of roping me into the cloud! ;)
