Halp! So... how do I get....

I had a similar issue with a lot of files that were created on a Mac. Once I was done with a kit or whatever I would move it to my eHD. Then I got a new laptop with a different operating system. The Mac files won't open on the new laptop. I was able to save some by opening on the old laptop and going into the properties to change some settings but a lot of my files are gone. Just about all of Jaimee's stuff that I had I couldn't save. Makes me so sad. :(

Oh No.... I should be able to transfer - just not in the way I intended. Did you try transferring the files from your laptop to the new laptop via ethernet or the OneDrive? I would have the sads too and will if mine doesn't transfer.

I haven't tried One-Drive. Maybe I'll give that a shot and see if it works. Thanks for the suggestion!

If it would be faster or easier for anything recent, you can go back into your order history and re download some files on your new laptop. That would be a quick way to get some of your newER stuff available while you slowly work to restore everything else. I've always had great results with customer service requests for link resets here at the pad, especially when I have a specific order number from my history...
In case you need something specific.

Hope that helps.

So clever! This is a great idea! Thank you!

I had two thoughts Jenn - can you network the Mac and PC laptops and then share the EHD? Also, there is an app that will let you read the EHD from a PC - I haven't used it but it might be worth a shot - just google for HFS Explorer.

I tried to do a network between the two, and it took for a little while and then stopped working! I had another EHD, and reformatted that to be able to use for both.... that is what is currently moving (slowly, but getting there) my files.

I'm on my way.... :)

Thanks all!

Oh good!!! You'll get there .... I hate that it takes so long to set things up!!!!

oh i lost alot, going between xp and windows 7.

going from windows 7 to 10, alot i copied didn't show up in the copy, needed to check everything (but this was the eariler version of windows 10) - it was also mentioned by another member, that her brushes didn't transfer over, with the earlier build of windows 10

on Jamie's things, it does have the mac files in it, which windows don't use, you might try making a new folder and copy the files into, leaving .ds or the system folder

I just bought a surface pro and I bought a flash drive to use to transfer my digit kit supplies. I have a 27" iMac that I love so I needed something that will work between the 2 systems. I just pop in my flash drive on my iMac and move over what I want from my EHD(which is connected and formatted for my iMac) then it plugs right in to my surface pro no problem. Just another option to try.

Amanda! It's so nice to see you in here! I hope you are doing well, and you've been playing with your scrappy stuff - digital and IRL items! :) Instant "Yay" to see a post from you!

I ended up reformatting an EHD for both systems, and transferring that way. A flash drive - I don't have one - are they big like EHD's? My photos and stuff are gigs and more gigs... so big, and so many years! :)

Thanks, Jenn. I have been doing well. I have missed you guys so much and hope to start carving out some time to hang out more. I am transitioning back to digital after over a year of paper scrapping again. I think my husband just thinks I took the year off to collect paper supplies that I will now have to get rid of lol. Just couldn't find the energy or time to devote to all those stickers and such. There's definitely no scrapping like digital scrapping and being able to pick up your mess with the swipe of a key.

Flash drives are tiny, fit in the palm of your hand. You can buy them in different storage sizes. Definitely not as much storage as a EHD but it's super portable and works well with my mac and windows device. I also needed something tiny so it would work well with my surface pro. Sounds like you got it all worked out though.

Aww. I completely understand the paper part.... I was a paper scrapper first, and tried to dabble with hybrid... but digital was just so easy with kids and so much on the go! I'm glad to see you around, and hope to see more of you and your creations!

Aha.... I call them jump drives! Same idea! :)
