Hello and welcome to month eight of our new monthly challenge series, Finding Me In 2023. The goal of this series is to help you create an album of layouts specifically about you. Each month, a new theme will be presented along with one or more example layouts. By the end of the year, you will have a cover layout, at least 12 layouts, and an ending layout.

The series is facilitated by me @gonewiththewind or Cheryl of Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs). Each month, one or more TLP designers will sponsor. You may find a new product from the designer sponsor(s) to help you specifically create your layout in keeping with the month’s theme, an exclusive coupon to purchase product from the designer sponsor, or a random giveaway.

THIS MONTH’S SPONSOR is Paula Kesselring

    AUGUST’S THEME: MOVIES

This month, consider how movies have influenced your life. You could share your first movie experience in a theater. You might want to explain how a film changed the way you view the world and the people in it. Consider sharing a film or group of films that you continue to watch over and over again in your life. Think about the ways you enjoy watching movies - from the theater to VHS to DVD. Document your favorite movies from different decades.
There is no requirement for a specific number of words you must use on your page. You may be able to convey your thoughts and feelings with word art or photographs.

To help you create your themed layout, Paula has this fabulous freebie just for you! Click on the preview image that will direct you to the product in the TLP store, where you can add it to your cart and check out.

I don’t go to many movies or watch many either but I have done a layout a few years back about a movie that really resonated with me.

Mine is about Greta Garbo, growing up in Sweden it was huge to have Greta Garbo as this fabulous super star. All her films was before me but our first TV was a b&w and they showed her movies from time to time and she was very special.

Great page Merethe! I also saw Star Wars like 5 times!Hahaha

YES! I 100% agree with you! Audiences in 70's had never experienced anything like it!!!
All those effects were simple the best that we had ever saw in a movie!
Here is a page with Lucas sketches for the effects - HERE
I read that one of the most important practical effects which were reused throughout the original Star Wars trilogy were matte paintings -refers to painting landscapes to create the illusion that a scene is taking place within that environment. -.
The decades-old technique allowed for Lucas to shoot awe-inspiring wide shots without building massive (and expensive) sets.

@cfile I loved reading your journaling and knowing your preferences!

I didn't saw "I married a Witch" movie, but I saw the "Bewitched" TV series that the creator of it said that he drew inspiration both from this film and Bell Book and Candle in creating the iconic TV series.
I used to watch it with my brothers on our pajamas!
Then when Gabi was 8-10 years old I watched several episodes of Bewitched in a cable channel in a daily rerun!
We try to make the Samantha's nose twitch in vain...hahaha
I read that Elizabeth Montgomery didn't actually twitch her nose to cause Samantha's magic to occur; she twitched her upper lip, causing her nose to follow.

@garrynkim Love your page!!! I love all the Indiana Jones movies! After with the DVD advent I use always played it on TV – because no matter how many times you watch them, you’re always going to find something to love about them. But I must to confess that I didn't see the "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" until now...

When I was a kid, movies used to be more memorable. Indiana Jones was one of those notable characters that helped shape my fantasies during childhood.
My favorite part of the series?! When Indy is invited to a Maharaja’s Palace and feasts with the residents and guests. The menu? Live snakes, fat-ass beetles and an eye ball soup! What’s for dessert? Chilled monkey brains ! Hahaha

Yes she was really a super star!
About her famous quote she said: "I never said, 'I want to be alone.' I only said, 'I want to be left alone.' There is a whole world of difference."

But after Garbo's death her friends feel a little freer to talk about the woman they loved. And they said:
She always took in the city sights with a brisk stride, athletic air and erect posture, wrapped in mannish pants and unadorned cloth coats, shod in flat loafers, and hidden by a fedora and sunglasses.

Mostly, New Yorkers left her alone, except for the occasional prying photographer or startled tourist or “kook,” as she put it. When strangers would ask, “Are you who I think you are,” she would reply simply, “No,” or put her index finger to her mouth and say, “Shhh.”

Unlike you, horror movie is one of my favorite genres since I was a little kid, "The Shining", "Poltergeist" "Halloween",a nd the best one f my childhood: "The Omen"...I really I was REALLY terrified that the antichrist would come and take over mankind...
One of the great things about childhood is how easy it is to access the distinct delight of being scared out of your mind. Now as anAdult I just have more trouble getting goosebumps. That’s because experience is the enemy of true terror. You may shriek the first time you see “ The Exorcist,” but the second or third time you might only shudder. That’s why us dedicated horror fans sometimes have a hard time finding a really nerve-rattling movie.
The "Exorcism of Emily Rose" was one what scared me the most majorly because I do believe that can happen, and also because it has the intriguing quote at the begging “based on a true story,” and films of demoniac possession...I really believe they can happen!

    LOVE you page!

I married a witch is a fantastic movie if you can catch it on the oldie movies channels like MGM etc. :) Yes I always loved Bewitched with Elizabeth Montgomery too.. she actually did that at home and when her husband at the time was directing the show, he suggested she do what she did at home and then the twitch came into play :) Hugs and thanks.. I had fun with the movie goodies :)
