Welcome to Week 5 of The Summer Bucket List Event. How are you doing so far? Are you collecting all the pins?

This week’s 30% off sales are cutfiles and printables, so our challenge this week involves:

Cutfiles!

The theme for this week is Family. I don’t know about you, but my summer always involves family in some way, whether planned or not! This summer, we had a Family Reunion and a Celebration of Life. The Family Reunion was full of family by blood. The ones who we are related to, even if it’s second cousins, or cousins once removed, or all those complicated relationships that trace back to my paternal grandparents. The Celebration of Life was more Family by Choice. Not the family my spouse was born to, but the family he found and made his own. These special people show up at all the important events in his life. They are more than friends; they are the ones you call in the middle of the night. The ones whose home you walk into without knocking. The ones who love you just like family.
Maya Angelou has a quote I adore “Family isn’t always blood, it’s the people in your life who want you in theirs: the ones who accept you for you are, the ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.”

This week’s challenge is to document about your family or family by choice, and include at least 1 cutfile. Perhaps you will choose a family tradition, or family story. I went with a moment from our family reunion this summer. As soon as we knew that not only would the people, but also the RV, would be there from the original photo, I knew we would do a repeat of this photo as soon as I found out the people, and the RV would be at the family reunion.

For the cutfile part of the challenge, I used a few different cutfiles: The hearts, "Documented", "family", "June", and "Once Upon a Time" are all cutfiles.

Robin made a Hybrid version of the cutfile challenge. One of her family traditions is to send birthday cards to her family members. So, using a cutfile as a mask, she made a card for her niece and one for her daughter. Check out her gallery for more of her gorgeous birthday cards she sends to her family!

I don't normally think to use cutfiles in my digital pages. Thank you for the challenge. Here's my page

Well, I guess this layout needs a bit of explanation.... Since I'm scrapping my hubby and son all the time (i.e. my current family), I thought I'd touch on the topic of my original family, which is a messy story. I haven't spoken to many of them for years. In their eyes, I'm the black sheep, but I want to turn that around. I'm not the one in the wrong here. It's a long story, and I usually don't talk about it, but with this photo ... I just had to make a layout.

my title is a cutfile by Scrapping with Liz, and we had a little family reunion last march, for my nephew's tropical wedding here in Brazil...we had a blast, it was incredible!!

My sister's husband got in an ATV accident & died over a decade ago, and it was a huge blow to our family, he was so beloved to all of us - we've never gotten over it. I spent a few weeks with my sister helping her deal with everything and one of the things we did while I was there was attend the Balloon festival, it was happening, we were there, so we went - somber & not expecting much. It was spectacular and I think seeing all those balloons gently flying off into the sky was cathartic to all of us & I know her husband would have loved it. I still miss him & I really miss his influence in her life - he was a good & gentle soul.

My cutfiles are located top center of page. A couple really old clipping shapes from Sara Gleason's Birchwood {clipped}. Always have the best time when visiting family! Thanks for the challenge.
