Essure?

As a WHNP I can tell you that they don't always work (my Dr doesn't even recommend them anymore). You MUST go to your follow up to be certain it worked (just ask my coworker who didn't and got unexpectedly PG with her third and then had one of the coils implanted in her placenta for 9 months). If they do work then awesome, but make sure you use backup until you have that confirmation.

I'm so floored at how many of you have Mirena. LOL

I only know two people IRL who use it. One of them LOVES it, the other had complications. So that scares me. My doctor doesn't do Mirena anymore, though. I'd have to go to a different one.

i have a friend who got preggo with her Mirena (it had been in maybe 2yrs). and then, much to her surprise, she had her tubes tied and got pregnant again! sometimes, if it's meant to be... well, you know.

i have quite a lot of friends w/ Mirean. i like the idea of Essure - so much less invasive.

All I can say is... Dude. :dizzy

Well I've gotten pregnant with tons of other forms of birth control already so hat would be my luck. lol This is why we're ready to go the permanent route. We had a scare last week and I about had a panic attack at the idea of another baby. lol

I've only seen the ads hanging at my OBGYN's, and don't know anyone who's done it. It does sound nice though! I'm scared of the Mirena mostly just because a good friend of mine got pregnant with it and it caused heart defects, and she actually lost the baby. Which I guess is a somewhat common occurrence if you get pregnant while using it. It's just scary when you know someone personally with a bad experience. Pretty sure we're going the snip snip route...

Never heard of Essure before. I love my Mirena, had it for over 2.5 yrs now. No complications and what is dreamy is that I have no periods! Woot woot. I don't know if I ever want anything but the Mirena!

this was on my list of maybe's.. pregnancy is pretty much a big no no for me medically. i have the paragard iud currently (can't do mirena) . From my understanding it'd be less risky for me to get essure than a tubal bc of my bleeding/meds/etc but I never could make a firm decision so they stuck the iud in me for now :p lol

paragard however. is not fun and i don't recommend it to anyone hahaha. the combination btwn it and coumadin is .. less than delightful- though aside from nearly bleeding to death every month it is perfect, no worries, no side effects etc.. I had mirena like 10 years ago and had dreadful side effects from it, though the no real periods was nice.

I opted for a hysterectomy...period free and lovin' it!!! LOL There were no other options for me....but at least I had a very quick recovery and no issues!!!

I am all about the husband getting the snip. After three children (the last one hasn't happened yet, just planned) my body has been through enough.
