Join us in the chat room in about 10mins!
Instructions will be posted here as well -
Welcome to the DYD Slow Scrap You will have until Tuesday Nov. 18 at 11am EDT to complete your page. For those completing a page, we will have a random drawing for a $5 winner! All the steps will be in the forum thread here
Today I'm inspired by gift wrapping!
Your page doesn't have to use DYD products at all
but still needs to follow these steps and respect the gallery rules.
GALLERY RULES: Layouts must contain at least 50% TLP products. (Templates count as 15%) Uploads must be less than 250k. List all credits; no off-site linking allowed.
I always aim to start wrapping early but generally leave it to the last minute but not this year! Let's start now (sort of, you'll see what I mean)...
Step 1: Pick out your wrapping paper!
We will start with a patterned background paper & photo/s somewhere around the center of the page.
(You might prefer brown paper packages tied with string but I love how giftwrap reminds me of scrapbook paper, so today the background paper will remind me of gift wrap & the photo/s is the gift!)
my 'wrapping paper' is from Just Jaimee's Merry Mayhem paper pack
Step 2: Don't forget to write the card or tag to convey your message!
Use at least one wordart AND at least one pocket card (or shipping style of tag) & add something to it to personalise it.
You can write the date, add journaling, a doodle or scribble, or it can be the spot for your title.
I have pocket cards from LBW's new December Be kind pack and i added the doodled bare tree to the top card and date to the bottom card. The tree, dec date stamp & all the wordart are from Merry Mayhem
Step 3: Time for scissors & tape!
Cut a corner or side off the patterned paper and tuck a different paper in behind it. Tape up the package.
You could use some washi (it could be paper strips if you haven't got washi) or sticky tape (that's what we call Scotch/?Sello tape, the clear stuff in Aust) or any kind of stickers will work!
I have masking tape & holly sticker on the photo and a treetopper sticker holding a card down.
There's a few ways to do the 'cutting the corner' bit. I used the polygonal lasoo tool in Photopea and clicked the bottom left corner and then a spot on the left vertical and bottom horizontal edges to make a triangle that connects so the cut was straight. My real life gift wrapping is nowhere near as neat though.
Step 4: Oh no! During my gift wrapping session, I knocked something over and spilled (or creased) my beautiful paper package! We don't have time to start over!
Add some paint or stamps or texture (folds/creases or tear an edge), it can be a mess, it'll be fine, everyone just rips the paper off the present anyway!
I have some scribbles near the top card and a bunch of paint and stamps for my spill.
I usually end up gift wrapping Xmas eve and it's usually really hot here (Summer Xmas) so these steps are based on a true story. Takeaway lesson being it's important to stay hydrated but a no-spill drink bottle is important too!
Step 5: Tie it up!
Add some stringy things! Maybe string, thread, rick rack, ribbon or a bow.
The more the merrier, right? i added pink rick rack, messy thread and a string bow, and there's also a bunch of bows (whatever the collective noun is) on the background paper
Step 6. Made with love.
Make sure there's a heart somewhere on the page and add some sparkle - something metallic, glitter, a gem, anything sparkly goes!
the LBW tree is made of hearts so it's doing double duty on my page. I've got a tree charm and silver star as my sparklies!
Step 7: Finish it up and Send it! Add anything else you think it needs to make it special, then Shadow and save as normal and upload it to the gallery for us to check out! Tag #speedscrap to add it to that gallery and don't forget to add it in this Slow Scrap thread in a reply below
***Note: When posting your page here in this thread, please use the "Copy GALLERY BB Code:" and paste that link so we can go back to your page and leave love
Looking forward to seeing yours!
