can someone please give me the simple scoop on drop box. i get the concept of it, but i'm too lazy to investigate how it all actually works. i need to set one up for a group of people to share photos in the next week or so. someone care to do my thinking for me please???

I big fat puffy heart drop box. I use it to move photos from my iPhone to my desktop super fast. And with Geoff is Afghanistan right now I can put photos into it and he can grab them and move them right to his laptop.

You can send and share things a couple ways. You can either link everyones computers, laptops, iPhones, etc to one account and they can grab stuff that way. Or after you upload it to your account you can send them the link for the items.

brynn, if we ALL want to upload to it, how do i do that? i want to be able to add photos, and i want them to be able to as well.

Rebecca, you just invite them to the folder and they can add to it. It's super easy, and we love it here, too.

Just one thing: you should only copy photos there and not move originals in there cause if it's a common folder anyone can erase or move those photos and they will therefore be erased from your computer too. When I share a folder with friends I always only copy paste what I want to share with them so that my originals on my hard drive are not in any danger ;) Hope it helps.

I love dropbox. I have a CT who uses it and we all put our images in that one shared folder and the designer can grab from there.
I only use free dropbox, up to 2 gigs, so I have to clean mine out. There's a desktop application too which I do like a lot but I agree, be CAREFUL to only copy and not drag and drop. I have lost files by accident because I would just move them on over to dropbox thinking that the copy will be left on my computer (like if I were transferring to my EHD)... and then nope, it was moved completely. I learned quickly tho, lol. You can also use the online upload so if you are at like your work computer and you have a file you want to send to your home computer yet we all know email and stuff doesn't really work for some of those files, then you just login online and upload the file to dropbox and it's there when you get home. My mom also has access to mine so she can share photos and videos with me.
