EVERYWHERE. seriously. no limits on the location of multiple exclamation points. this made me LOL I also really really really like repeating words!! I think I've found it a universal way to convey positivity in a sentence. In an industry that spreads worldwide, through many languages, I think we all understand that the exclamation point means positivity... even if my words aren't in your native language, and we may have a translation gap of some kind, or idioms or whatnot that don't translate well, the exclamation point lets people know it's positive, and helps with intent some times. At least for me personally, if I read exclamation points, I immediately think the other person is conveying positivity, so even if I didn't understand what was written/typed, I can mentally accept the "benefit of the doubt" so to speak. I can remind myself that they really probably had good intentions. If it could be taken in a poor manner, I can make myself rework the meaning to a positive manner.... not even sure that really made 100% sense. But in any case.... I know I use exclamation points to make sure my intent is understood as a positive intent.
Lol. This entire thread is cracking me up! Exclamation points definitely have their place, but I work in marketing. And they are pretty much a big no-no when it comes to promotions, graphics, etc. So, I use them a lot more sparingly these days.
Oh man me too!! I did a "suitability test" last week, basically to get into my course they want to assess math, reading and writing skills. I had to be so aware not to use so many !!! Lol!!! Even though I am usually so excited about what I am writing! Hahaha! I must have done ok, I did pass, lol!!
Yup count me in with the over use of !!!!!! I find I use them all the time but for the best intent as the page I am commenting on or the message I am delivering I need to emphasize. (Oops I almost did it out of habit- ha ha!)
It's illegal to NOT like the !!!! where I come from! My middle daughter uses them a lot too, and hubby's always asking why we're yelling at him when we text him
Yep, avid abuser here too. I'm trying VERY hard to curb my habit of it, but I'm too far gone. We need a ! intervention!!!!!
The NYT Style Manual does not apply here. Y'all know that!!!!! btw, in some languages repeating the word (usually an adjective) is used instead of adding very to it. So we are just linguistic experts.
Love this... I use ellipses way too often... no idea why... it's just a thing... so EXCLAIM AWAY!... we all understand
