This is the time of year that I really start craving all the fall comfort foods. We are having a chilly, rainy Sunday and I'm trying to plan out some meals for the week. I've already made chili, potato soup, and vegetable soup. Coming up, I have chicken and dumplings, spaghetti, and pinto beans on the menu. Do you have a favorite chilly weather comfort food??
Already made butternut squash soup and Tepari white bean soup this past week. I have not made chili yet but that sounds good. I love pumpkin so already made myself a pumpkin chai tea latte and pumpkin oatmeal cookies.
No matter the weather, I have one comfort food all year round. Just fry up ground beef (I use vegetarian nowadays) & onion + salt/pepper/garlic powder. Mix with cooked spaghetti & eat with ketchup. It's my prozac. LOL And popcorn. Always popcorn. All I need is pasta and popcorn!
I love when it gets colder outside so I can make things like lasagna, enchiladas and chili! In the summer we just don't feel like eating hot foods so much! And I don't want my kitchen all hot! Ha ha! We haven't turned on our heat yet in the house, so cooking something sounds pretty good to me!
I don't eat a lot of the comfort food I used to (being low carb) but one comfort food I still make is meatloaf and instead of mashed potatoes I make a cauliflower mash with garlic, butter and cream cheese.
Looks like you named all of my faves. I've already made chili and I have white chicken chili on the menu for this week. I'm also craving some kind of Pumpkin dessert. Something warm and gooey and served with homemade whipped cream. I love anything that makes the house smell warm and cozy.
Like @bcgal00 I don’t eat the comfort foods of my past either because I’m gluten free - GF pasta just doesn’t have the same appeal! Current comfort food loves are mashed potatoes (or to be perfectly honest any potatoes) and homemade soups.
