I’m starting a collage based page today…I did the paper collage and covered it with gesso last night. Now to paint and embellish it. Hmmmm

Sounds like fun! Can't wait to see what you come up with. :)

Ooooo...the mystery is brewing in such a delightful way! I do hope if anyone else has hybrid projects bubbling, they share them here! And I do look forward to Susie's "next."

For me, I FINALLY started on a paper bag words of affirmation mini-book last night. I have a nice stash of paper bags around the same size and thought how cool it would be to fold them over and create a pocket book.

Using a punch tool from Memory Keepers, I created the "spine" of the book. After punching through the paper, I used embossing thread (three strands) to bind the layers together. Using a metal ruler and exacto knife, I trimmed the edges of the book to be relatively even.

Next, because I am fond of white gel pen on black gesso, I gessoed up the backgrounds in black. Then, I attached random strips of paper in a desired color palette (leaning towards saffron yellows, tans, and browns) with a stapler. And I added some random ephemera tags and file folder tags.

My next steps are not done yet. I will add some strips of lace and washi tape to the insides of the pockets. I like the staples - I like the introduction of metal and the texture the staples brings. But, I need the insides to be smooth - so I will lay down some washi over the metal.

On the black gesso, I will practice my botanical line drawing and print up some TLP ephemera to make collage.

I am not certain what I will put inside the pockets. I know I want words of affirmation. But, do I make tags I can pull out...or ATC-like pull outs using index cards? I am indecisive on that part right now.

Here is what I have so far...
