    WOO HOOO FEBruary is here!
Time to get moving and GET skinny!

    OH I don't think so!!
The real deal-Get SKinnY with Me!
A month long challenge of fun and learning to play
    in the art journaling world!
Skinny Art Journaling-is taking your canvas and splitting it lengthwise four(4) times. skinny-template-copy.jpg
You can always go horizontal too. I am doing this challenge in a way that may be a bit harder, but if it pleases you. Go for it!

For these challenges, dear Liz of @Scrapping with Liz has graciously made templates available HERE.

Each week, we will delve into trying something different and fill in ONE skinny at a time. Each skinny is a challenge and then they go together to help you to try new things and explore art journaling. With it, you learn about your program, and the "exercises" you do will build "muscle" to help you in your scrapping too.
    Week ONE SKinny Requirements:
    1. ONE item or alpha or text, but ONE item must be STRETCHED out of proportion.
    2. Take a few elements and SHRINK them down smaller than usual and place them.
    3. Blend some paints onto your background page

here is my page as an example:

The INCHIES will be brought in NEXT week at the chat!

Prizes? oh yeah, they are coming!
Deadline? 1 March 2017, when I get up that morning.

@AnneofAlamo Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was dreading an odd sized shape, meant for 12x12 layouts, one that wouldn't fit into my 8.5 x 11 page size. Nothing like being a bit rigid.

In the almost 11 years of doing digital, I've never scrapped in 12x12 and have no intention. It's the simple things, reading this challenge and dealing with TOTAL relief. Anne, you have made my day.

oh @mcurtt you are so so welcome! I am rather pleased to play and although the templates are for 12x12, I am thinking you can cut your paper 4 ways without a template! tee hee, I am all for creating and pushing the rules ...
    this is art journaling!

This sounds and looks like so much fun! I want to give this a try this week! I think it will be like the ATC... smaller is easier, lol! Less canvas to worry about!

Are you wanting us to post each skinny separately every week? Like this week it'll just have 1, next week 2, then 3, then 4? Or rather us wait until the whole thing is filled in later in the month?

So am I on the right track (as an art journaling newbie) to think I might consider each of these strips as, perhaps, a diary entry? So whatever I'm thinking about right now might be a good topic for the first strip, and then next week's strip the topic could be something else I'm thinking about that day?

I know there's no rules -- I just want to know if that's kind of what others are doing. Or is art journaling more of an abstract thing and there isn't even really a topic?

I'm so unsure that I'm probably not even phrasing my question well enough.

Should I just do whatever I want, within the stretching, shrinking, painting guidelines?

    :)

@michelepixels I love the idea of a diary! it is brilliant and I love it! If keeps to the requirements it is copasetic to me! What I am trying to do, is get us all to try different ways to create. The skinny really helps being a smaller canvas, and it is filled so differently. Each page is actually an inspiration to each other. I can't wait to see what your mind and heARt create!

I finished a book today that touched my heart, so I thought it would be a good topic of this week's art journaling. I thought about copying-pasting my Goodreads review but the space is too skinny. Unless I were to use different paper and less stuff. :)

Am I somewhat close to the idea of art journaling?
