I'm in need of a good chair. What do you scrap in? My current chair is a folding chair, and kills my back (Imagine that! :duh). I don't mind the couch, but I like being at my desk better. I tend to focus better.

Enable me! Tell me about your wonderful chair. Or, if your chair is as bad as mine, then share so I don't end up with another back ache chair.

I scrap sitting on a bar stool type thing (with a back rest) at the breakfast bar. I feel OK, but occasionally my son wanders in and tells me my posture is bad. So it may be doing damage that I can't feel? :eyeroll

my chair needs recovered, it a vinyl high back that came with my big formica table

I LOVE my chair! Yes, I sit with my computer in my lap, but with my back problems, it is the best way. I don't know the name of my chair, but it is a rocker with padded back and seat and wooden arms. It has a separate stool that also rocks that I put my feet up on. I put a small firm pillow behind my back, my computer in my lap and I could sit like this for hours!! Hope you find something really comfortable. Painful backs are no fun!!!!

Sorry no help as I have a laptop and usually scrap in bed or in an armchair in the lounge. Good luck with finding a comfy office chair. I'm lucky that mine at work is one of them!

I'm not sure what brand mine is, but it's from an office place like maybe Staples. It's a generic black high backed chair with arms on it. I recently tried my son's chair that doesn't have arms on it, so I could scooch closer, but I didn't like it and went back to my chair. I did add a pillow (like square couch decoration type) behind my back and that has helped a ton. I found that I was constantly leaning forward towards my desk becuase the arms on my chair wouldn't let me get close enough. With the pillow behind my back my whole body is moved forward just enough to make it was more comfortable. These things showed up more during MOC when I was scrapping every day! :giggle

I scrap on the couch, lol! Occasionally at the DR table. I have a bad back though, so when I do sit, I have a special pillow (or rolled towel) that will support my lower back, no matter where I sit. All because I fell down the basement stairs onto the concrete floor. It was painful, but using a towel to provide support forces me to have better posture and relieves the stress on my back.

Even at work, I have a staples no frills chair, sans arms, though cushion-y, and again, a rolled up towel attached to the back with huge rubber bands to provide support for my back. :giggle Jerry-rigged, but it works!

When we bought this big desk of mine in 2011 and placed it in my kitchen nook we never bought a desk chair for it. I just use one of the sturdy wooden chairs from the nearby dining table. My favorite way to work at my computer is sitting cross-legged on this chair.

I have an old executive-style rolling office chair that my DH got for free at his former workplace when they upgraded the furniture. It's not wonderful, but it was free! It's not that comfortable because it's so big, so I wouldn't recommend getting one.

The previous office I worked in had Herman Miller chairs at our desks, and I found that it was AWESOME for my back because it had a lumbar support thingy across the back. They are pricey, though, so when I set up my home office last year I found a chair at Sam's Club that was very similar in feel, except that instead of having a $900 price tag it was about $200. It has mesh in the seat and back instead of solid fabric and is super comfy, and it has a lot of different adjustments besides height, which makes a big difference. Unfortunately I can't remember the name brand, but I've seen similar chair like it there since then. Sam's or Costco might definitely be worth a try.

I bought THIS ONE with my Christmas money and I LOVE it!! Before that I was just using a folding chair or one from the dinning room, which wasn't the most comfortable.

Thomasville Furniture has a line of office chairs at Office Depot, and that's where I got this one. Here's a link to the specs (they no longer sell this particular chair): http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/862396/StyleWork-by-Thomasville-Wellzer-Mid-Back/

Because of my extensive back issues, replacing my chair is something I have to consider every couple of years. I spend a lot of time designing and creating at my desk, so it's important to have a good chair. Get out of that folding chair, chicka! A dining room chair would be better than a folding chair, that has no back support.

On a separate note, my hubby just started using a stand up desk at work. Well, it's really a two-in-one option. It folds down to his traditional desk and he can sit at it with a chair OR he can pull it out and up and then stand at it. That would NOT be wonderful for me since standing in a stationary position causes more pain. But would that be something that might work for you?

Technically, the folding chair is the dining room chair. Lol :compcoffee we used to have some we loved, but moved. And it hasn't been a huge priority since we usually only sit at the table for breakfast and dinner.

Thanks for all the replies! It's nice to know I'm not alone in the quest for chair happiness. I feel like I have a place to start looking.

I 'm no help with advice as I scrap in bed .... (my page for Mirjam's challenge, not posted yet, will do in the weekend!)
