Hubs and I are due for phone upgrades next week. He'll keep his phone (if he could "down-grade he would - lol - but he's already got the most basic phone around!)

I have a Samsung Galaxy, am debating about switching to an iPhone.

I'd love to hear your thoughts - do you have an iPhone - love it? hate it? Not worth the hassles of the learning curve from a Samsung? (I have an iPad, so don't think it should be *too* different, should it?)

TIA.

We have always had iPhones, but we got my in-laws to switch to iPhones with their last upgrade. Our main motivation to get them to switch was to have everyone with the same type of phone.

What do your other family members have? We love that we all have iPhones since sharing photos is really easy. We love having shared iCloud albums for different events. Instead of sending photos to everyone individually, we have these albums... you just upload once and every member of that album sees the photos, can comment on them and download them if they want. We've gone on trips with my parents the past few summers and always make a shared album for the trip... each night when we got on wifi at the hotel we all (four of us) uploaded our photos for the day (my daughter made a day divider photo each morning to keep us more organized). I loved looking at them, but loved having them available for scrapbooking even more! We also have an album called "Mom's Project Life" and my husband and kids drop photos into it for me all of the time.

My in-laws are not tech savvy AT ALL and had no problem making the switch. Them not being tech savvy was a factor in having them make the switch. They needed lots of help with their phones, and it was much easy to help them if they had a phone we were familiar with.

Since they came into existence, we have had iPhones - now with the 6s version. I doubt we'll ever switch since they synch with all our electronic stuff. I love mine more than dh does but he is much more impatient with any phone and yet I know most of his issues have been 'user error or impatience'. LOL I must say I do get tired of system upgrades which often include a bunch of changes for change sake and it helps a lot when we both have the same phone and one of us can show the other what/how/where the new system works.

I have a 76 y o friend who is not at all tech savvy and she can deal with her iPhone and iPad pretty easily. She does freak out now and then and if I take her through the issue s l o w l y step by step she's usually ok.

We're an iPhone family as well. Both my grown children had switched to Android, but they both came back to iPhone. DD and DH have the 6, DS #1 has the 7+, DS #2 has my old 5, and I have a 6+. I love it for all the reasons Tracie mentioned! If you know the iPad well, the iPhone will be easy peasy. My 79 year old mother has an iPhone as well, and uses it pretty easily. She's had an issue or two when she touches too much stuff haha :giggle

I have been using Iphone since they were launched. :) I do plan to wait for the Iphone8.

I love my iPhone but I have no experience with any other smartphone. My husband however, chose android and doesn't think iPhones are any better. I had had an iMac for 2 years by the time I got my first smartphone, so I decided to stick with Apple. I do love the way I can access things on both machines, such as the calendar, Notepad, and Reminders; I use those a lot.

I'm on my second iPhone. My first was the iPhone 4s from 2013 to 2015. My current one is an iPhone 6 and I intend to use it as long as it works (or some truly awesome new feature comes along).

I've never had a tablet, but I'd think familiarity with an iPad would make it easy to find your way around an iPhone.

Good luck!

I'm the only one with an iphone - a 6. It's a love/hate relationship. I hate the camera, but I love that it syncs with my ipad. I love how much storage I have, but I "need" to pay for an icloud storage upgrade since my phone exceeds their "free" storage (you can get around that by plugging it into your computer and updating that way). I hate the latest iOS upgrade. And I hate how much they cost. Most of all, I really hate the fact the 7's don't have ports, and you need to purchase a dock to use earbuds with cords, etc. I don't like it that we cannot anymore set how long we want the phone to be "on" before going to sleep. It's either always on or it sleeps after a few seconds. But the biggest dislike is that with every iOS update you need to reset all of your settings. I'm really done with Apple, can you tell?

The only reason I wouldn't want to switch to a Samsung (which everyone else in my family has) is that I can't transfer all my apps without fees (I got most of them when they were free).

I have had iPhones almost as long as I've had a smart phone. I had a brief fling with an early Windows phone (circa 2008), but that was most definitely not for me. I'm on a 6 Plus now and love it. My husband has an iPhone but wishes he had his Android back sometimes...but he also is afraid to go into an Apple store with me because it feels like a bit of a cult to him. :giggle

If you are good with the iPad, then the iPhone will not feel very different to you. My mom is an iPad user who switched from an Android phone to iPhone last December, and she ADORES her iPhone!

I switched from an android to iPhone about six months ago, and I have been happy with it! I was a bit worried, but you are exactly right - having already had an iPad made it fairly easy to switch. I don't have any regrets, I say go for it!

I went from a samsung to an LG and my sister in law has the latest Samsung and takes all of her photos with it. It certainly looks much better than my hubby's iPhone. the only thing that would make me even consider going iphone are the apps that are only available for iPhone.

We are an all iPhone family too. I love my iPhone, but I've never had an android to compare it to. If you are familiar with an iPad, you will have no trouble at all switching to an iPhone. They are basically the same, just smaller with the phone. :)

iPhone family here as well! I just wanted to say that if you can use your iPad, then the learning curve won't be too different for the iPhone! We have had good luck with our iPhones, but I haven't ever had an Android though to give an opinion on that. Good Luck!

I had a google nexus phone that I hated and switched to iPhone about 4 yrs ago and have never regretted it. I have a 6 and am happy with it. The camera is pretty good. I'm debating whether to switch to the newer, bigger size which has a slightly better camera or wait for the next release. So hard to decide LOL. But no matter what I have, I'll be sticking with an iPhone. I had an iPad before the phone so switching over to an iPhone was easy.

I am still not sure which phone I'll get ... I don't have a ton of things on my Android so won't have too much to move (or start over since they probably can't be transferred) - the Samsung gets such good reviews for the camera - which I use most of all - I'll take a gander at both .. I'll surprise myself when I make the choice! :-)

we have iphones. we've just had them a long time. i don't know what i'll do when it's time to upgrade. i have a 5c i'm due but refuse to pay for a new one.

if he could "down-grade he would - lol - but he's already got the most basic phone around!
I don't know! The Nokia 3310 is coming back! Remember that? The indestructible brick?

The only reason I wouldn't want to switch to a Samsung (which everyone else in my family has) is that I can't transfer all my apps without fees (I got most of them when they were free
This is why I stick to Android! I have so many apps, free and paid for, that I would have a hard time switching to Apple!

the Samsung gets such good reviews for the camera - which I use most of all
And this is the second reason I stay. I love my Samsung camera, and find it takes better photos than my mom's iphone. Could be the models, mine's an S5, her's is a iphone 6, but photos are what I use my phone for most. Apps are second.

Now, all that said, I suggest people stick with the same brand in their house. My mom gets frustrated because she has a Windows computer, and it doesn't talk to her iphone the same way her Android phone did. My dad used to get annoyed that his Android didn't talk to his Mac easily. Once he switched to an iphone, he solved a lot of his issues. But as far as using it, I figure anyone that can tackle digi scrapping can tackle a smartphone!

We are an IPhone family. What we love is face-timing family members who live far away. Not sure.... does the Samsung have this ability?
I have heard the Newest IPhone has a really nice camera. Is this correct?

My mom is 74 has an IPhone and had no trouble learning how to use it.

We are an iphone family! All for the same reasons of easy sharing and having many apps and movies on the ios platform. I love my 6s and hated my Samsung Avant! The 6s takes way better photos than my samsung ever did. The new iphone 7 plus is what my dd wants. Her friend has one and it takes amazing photos. This photo is from her friend's iphone7 plus. I didn't do any editing.

I have the Samsung S4. The only iPhone I have is my work cell phone. While I do agree that the camera is better, I am not an Apple person. Never though highly of the Macintosh, Apple computers, ipod, etc. I've always had Samsung. Android is based off the Linux operating system (which I love) so naturally I rather have Android. Both my husband and I have the S4. My sister has the S7 edge. My other sister has the Samsung as well. My mom and brother have another brand but it's an Android-based. The only iPhone user in the family is my brother in law :)
