Dawn's designs always pushed me outside of my comfort zone, so I didn't use it a lot, but when I did I had so much fun playing with a different style. A couple of my favorites: I've really enjoyed looking through this thread to see everyone's Dawn pages. It just reinforces what a designing talent she was, and how much she will be missed. And, frankly, it makes me want to step outside my comfort zone just a little bit more.
I fell in love with Ocean and knew it would make the perfect cover for my son's Boy Scout trip to Sea Base. I was crushed when I heard the news. Prayers for her family
I agree, I loved seeing what new collection she would dream up each week - she was such a prolific artist that never failed to release something new each and every week. It was quite amazing actually. And ... she scrapped so much as well. I enjoyed seeing her pages in the gallery - there usually was at least one with Carly or her and some fun animals - and they always drew me in for a closer look. They were always there waiting for me since she was a few hours ahead in UK time. I was never sure I could do her designs and illustrations justice though. I wish I would have played more and pushed myself as well.
Her botanicals for this week's BYOC, she had done a lovely page for that as well of Carly. It was posted in her off site CT forum. I wish we could post it here so everyone can see one more page that she recently scrapped.
I have quite a few amazing pages using her designs from 2008 and 2009 when I was on her CT. Here's one of my favourites from that time period:
Courtney, @bestcee - thanks so much for starting this thread. I know it has been a great source of healing for all of us. Dawn's art was just wonderful and really spoke to me. I nearly always used something of hers on every layout.
Dawn's style was not my typical- so I don't have much- but I do have one that I LOVE with some of her gorgeous goodies:
Here's a small fraction of my pages made with Dawn items in my flickr gallery. Over 100 pages have her hand on them!
this thread has been wonderful - i've had the same thoughts as Jenn Mc about hoping i am doing her designs justice and selfdoubt using them but i somehow overcame that paralysis and gained confidence with each page thanks in part to her comments and seeing how her team and she used them in the gallery i won't forget her illustrations and characters but her painted and mixed media backgrounds always drew me into her shop
