so random question...

what kind of cable do you have - hardline like comcast/time warner or satellite like directtv/dish?

why did you choose what you chose and are you happy with your choice?

We have Satellite. We did try cable for about a month but quickly switched back to Dish. We like the Dish because of the price for the package we wanted and the way the DVR records on multiple TVs. We've been happy for many years now with Satellite. It never goes down and we don't have any problems.

we did satelite for years and had no real issues with it, other than stormy weather.

we have had ATT U-Verse for the past year, and are really happy with it. It's got the same benefits as dish without the weather outages. It's very fast speed internet capable, and it is competitively priced.

We have cable. I'm very happy with it! It's very convenient b/c we have the phone, tv, and internet and it's nice not having to worry about weather issues. I also don't like the look of a satellite on the top of my house or front/back yard. ;)

We don't have cable tv at all....we live in a huge market so we get a ton over the air (and have a tivo to record and pause and all that fun stuff). We also have Netflix which we stream to our TV (plus the one disc at a time plan which I think we'll be increasing to two..but not until the new rates kick in next month..don't want to have to pay the higher price this month). That does us pretty well...I will occasionally stream something from Hulu over the computer...but very rarely (I did watch almost the entire season of The Voice this way though).

We have DirecTV and I am happy with them. Their customer service is amazing! They always give us free stuff when we call in for something. LOL! Garret has a friend that just started working with Dish Network and he's hurting for money and would get a cash bonus if we signed up for them so we are considering it. We had them before and they were the rudest people EVER! I am not the kind of person that gets super angry and yells at people on the phone, but I so did with Dish Network. BLECH!

We live in a tiny town and don't have the cable option so it was only going to be satellite for us. :)

We don't have cable tv, but we have cable internet. We stream netflix.
We honestly don't watch enough tv for me to justify the $60 we were spending a month. $8 for netflix is right up our alley.

We have DirectTV. The only reason is so that my husband can get some football package that they offer and nobody else does. It drives me crazy to pay so much for TV b/c I just don't watch much but that is for another thread called my husband drives me crazy with the TV noise.

We have cable tv. Our neighborhood association fees actually cover a group basic cable tv plan for our neighborhood so that is generally why we have it but we're happy with it. We also have cable internet and phone. I love that when someone calls I can check the tv for the caller ID and not get up if it's a telemarketer. (how's that for lazy! lol)

We switched to U Verse for awhile to get a deal with out internet, tv, and phone. We had nothing but problems with the service. The bills weren't right, the service would go down for no reason at all, we'd have to spend hours on the phone with them trying to get things right. It didn't work for us.

this is kind of where we are... i've had netflix & hulu plus for a while and that has been good. but we do like watching 24 hr news channels (get sort of tired of being on the computer) like cnn, msnbc, foxnews, etc... and we do enjoy TLC and some random sports channels (for things like soccer, boxing, swimming, biking, etc).

We have AT&T U-verse too and I guess it probably depends on where you are, because I have had friends and family who have had nothing but issues with AT&T, but we have always had pretty good customer service. I have loved our U-verse tv and internet. And when our modem went out on a Saturday morning, they were there by noon that same day. Apparently, people are kind of cranky when they can't get their tv and since the one modem controls it all, they do same day service on the weekends.

I had just decided this week to cancel it though, because we weren't using it enough to justify the cost, but when I called, they adjusted some stuff and gave me promotional deals where we have HD service, faster internet, and more channels for about $50 less/month, so I went ahead and kept it for a while anyway. That and I LOVE DVR, like love love LOVE it!

living in the middle of nowhere, without cable, or cell phones like OMG
am stuck with local phone service, and satellite for everything else, or do without
would luv cell phone service, cable TV and internet service all in one pkg
paying for everything a la carte is way too expensive *sigh*
(DishTV and HugesNet for internet, Verizon phone)
I guess I could move, eh? lol

I get the HughesNet voodoo doll out on a regular basis

We have Comcast. We had DirectTV down in Florida and for a while when we got here...but they don't carry local channels on Direct in our area. So they wanted to charge us a bunch of money to get channels out of NY..but it would only be Fox and ABC. So no NBC or CBS...it was really weird and confusing. Especially since we had NBC when we first got here but then they took it away :cornfused

After we cancelled Direct we did just the Hulu and Netflix for a couple months. But again...we live in like a black whole or something because it hardly ever worked. Just when you got into a program it would buffer, and buffer and buffer some more. So we went with Comcast because that was the only other option...U-Verse isn't available in our area...go figure.

You would think we live in the sticks...but really we are in a pretty big college town lol.

We have Directv. We've had them for maybe 8 years or so. We switched to Verizon cable a year or so ago to save money, and we hated it so much. We called and cancelled and went back to Directv. My dh gets the baseball and football packages too, and we like the channels that come in the basic package. We don't really have stormy weather all that often here, so it hardly ever has gone out on us.

This is such a great thread. With us moving to the states in november we have been researching tv and internet packages like crazy. We are leaning toward u-verse and its nice to hear peoples experiences with that and the others as well.

We have Dish Network and Netflix. Hubby is the only one that watches the Dish stuff because we have a very basic HD package. It's pretty inexpensive though, so I don't mind the cost. He watches History channel, Discovery and ESPN all the time, so he'd be lost without it. I do watch my few TV shows on the local channels and I LOVE my DVR. I don't think I could live without that. Most of the time I don't even know what day my shows are on. I turn on the TV and hit the DVR button and see what's recorded for me to watch. We also stream Netflix to the TV through our Bluray player for the kiddos and I love that.

Has anyone ever thought of getting rid of cable/satellite in general and streaming hulu.com or something like that to their t.v.? I've heard of people doing this but didn't know much about it...

We have DISH - at the time we moved in the cable company hadn't pulled their lines through our development yet, so we didn't have a choice. In hindsight, that was a good thing, because everyone around here hates the cable company. We love dish, haven't had any issues except in extreme wind. ETA: It's also nice because for $5 extra a month, we have a dish box in our RV, and it hooks into our satellite

Actually that's how we watch all our tv right now and have fora while. They are always 1-2 seasons behind here in germany and we didn't want to fall behind. It's actually not a bad way to do it.
