I just read that Google Reader is going bye-bye in July! Eeks! I use that thing all.the.time! Help a poor lady out and tell me what you use to keep track of all your feeds. It needs to be free (I'm cheap) and it needs to work on my PC. Thanks so much for you help!!!!

I have NO idea. I live and die for Feedly, which just pulls from my Google Reader. I may have a mini panic attack.

I'm a Feedly user too (thanks to your recommendation Peppermint). I heard tell that Feedly is working to operate independently from Google Reader, but that's second hand info. I need to do more research.

I just installed FeedDemon a few minutes ago. but it is an independent program, I'd rather have a web-based reader!

WHAT!?!?! No! I don't actually think I remember how to read blogs without Google Reader! That's just not cool! They better be coming up with something better to replace it!

I read that yesterday, thought about it a minute and chose to stick my head in the sand and pretend I never saw it. It's not till July and I've got this whole school year to finish and everything. Maybe they'll change their minds...

I'm not a happy camper, either. I haven't been keeping up with most of my blogs lately, but I don't want to lose track of the ones I follow. I guess I'd better figure out an alternate solution, too. :(

I just saw that notice from Feedly this morning when I loaded it, so ... WHEW. As long as I can still use Feedly I'm good!

Sounds like Feedly is the way to go. I'll have to investigate some more. I find it so odd that Google said it wasn't as popular as they hoped and that is why they are getting rid of it. I thought it was super popular.

Wes told me the reader apps I have on my phone and iPad can be independent of google. I'm going to research today. I'm pretty sad. And a little angry.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who is angry! Just a teeny bit though because honestly I have better things to be angry about right?

I'm not panicking until July, LOL. I think by then, one blog reader will stand out as the crowd-favorite to replace Google Reader. And since we can use Google Takeout to download all our subscriptions at once and upload them somewhere else, it's not worrisome.

The main thing that bothers me is that I have lost my trust in Google. I use Google products a lot. I have no faith that Google won't take away the other Google products that I use now, such as Google Docs, or maybe even Blogger or Picasa. The taking away of Google Reader makes me not want to put all my eggs into the Google basket anymore. I think they are making a mistake and creating distrust with their users.

Christine I totally agree with you! It seems like they really are shutting down something that is used by many, and i found myself questioning what's next? I've been thinking about switching my blog platform for awhile now {I use blogger} and I'm kinda feeling like I should "just in case". All I know is I have a lot of research to do because of this announcement. It has really got me thinking about other options to Google.

I wonder if perhaps they're shutting it down because although a lot of people use it, most of them are using it via another service which affects their revenue. I use feedly on the pc and flipboard on the tablet and phone, both pull from reader but I never log into it properly.
