Gabbi has been waking recently around 3 to 4 am for a bottle of milk, anyway the health visitor said give her water and let her cry so that's what I've done, woke 4 am had a bottle of water put her back she played and chatted for half hour the other half cried on and off.it's now 5.05 and I think she gone back off now,man this is hard to sit and listen to when a bottle of milk settles her in ten minutes, hope it only takes a couple of nights never had this with the boys, think she did well considering tho

sounds like she took to it fabulously! I had to do the same for my kids and it worked. They learn that there is only water coming for them if they wake so they eventually sleep through. Stick with it!

Thanks Eryn i think she did well considering, ill be probably dead on my feet by teatime but if i can break this habbit then it will be worth it,i think it may be the cold waking her up in the first place,so im gonna put a heater in her room tonight and switch it on when i go to bed,ill try anything

my kids wake when they are cold too and considering how much colder it is where you are I can definitely appreciate that!
Every time you make a change with a child it is difficult to start with, but if you can stick with it, it will be well worth it. good luck karen!

well last night she didnt want the water so i just left her to it and she did go off after about 40 mins of crying on and off but then she slept till 7.30 so she has proved she can do it but it doesnt help as she is cutting her back teeth but i do think its a habit she has got into cause she is literally asleep crying,I will persevere we will beat this lol

I don't miss those days!!! Be strong! Don't give in, or you will have suffered through this for nothing!

I nursed my girls for 2 years each and this was something we were never able to do. I was always up and down all night. Stick with it Karen and you will be better off in the end. Good luck.

Have you tried anything like this for keeping her warm?

We learned about them when we were living in France when the boys were born and we just kept graduating them up to the next size. I think they wore them until they were like 2--they learned to crawl and walk in them!

Good luck, that is so hard listening to them cry, but it will be better off when she doesn't wake up.

Stay strong, Karen! I remember when my son was 3 and I wanted to quit his paci, I cut it and told him it broke (it was his last one). So it was about 3 days of crying but in the end was so worth it because he didn't need it anymore.

I feel for you! It's crazy how when you're in the moment it feels like this issue is never going to resolve itself... like she's going to be up crying for milk when she's 12. But just like everything else, eventually it's all going to work out. You're doing a great job. For the record, I'm so jealous that you casually refer to "teatime." I think I need a teatime...

oooh she did well last night,i think i heard her murmor around 3am and thought oh no here we go but then she went off again till 7.30 am,i didnt have to go to her once,i did have to creep to the toilet so that i wouldnt wake her lol.hope that tonight is the same
