I am a huge fan of homemade white bread.. with a bit a sugar in it so it is slightly sweet...
also love beer bread (with chili or some beer cheese soup!!!).... and
my newest favorite is wild rice and cranberry bread! mmm sooo good..
also love fruity breads like apple bread or banana...

Totally also a fan of french bread.. and bread sticks.. and garlic.. *l*

and who can resist a big pan of corn bread!!! (cooked the southern way of course in bacon grease!)

but the one type I really can not stand is Rye..

LOL Rye is one of my favorites! But only as a once in a while thing. I wouldn't want to have it every day. I will buy a loaf for sandwiches once or twice a year, but I'm the only one in our house who eats it.

I'm not a big bread person overall. We do a basic wheat bread for our normal use, and once in a while DH will break out the bread maker and do a white bread (the only one he's learned to make in it so far). We often do frozen garlic/cheese Texas toast with Italian meals, and Red Lobster garlic muffins from a mix for special meals.

this post is useless without recipes! SHARE!!!

I LOVE sourdough, but sadly our starter passed away....would love recipes!

EASY BEER BREAD:
  • Sift the flour and sugar into a bowl.
  • Stir in the beer. The batter will be thick and lumpy it is totally fine and tasty
  • Pour into a lightly greased 5x9-inch loaf pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove to a platter to cool and pour the butter over the top.

This made me laugh a little.
Our starter, Toni, has survived a move. She's from King Arthur and I think they put some magic in so you can't kill it quickly!

I love all the breads...I try not to keep any in the house as I gain weight from them. So I save them for a special treat. Today I finished off the Irish Soda bread I got from Wegman's. So good... I do keep English Muffins on hand for breakfast. I love a good whole wheat or multi-grain bread.

Do muffins count as bread? Seems they are really just unfrosted cup-cakes...

I love bread ... esp. hot breads/toast/rolls spread with butter or honey and butter. When I make spaghetti I cut French bread into thick slices, lay a slice of sharp cheddar on it, then toss in a 325° oven to melt the cheese.

i have a weakness for almost all breads. i'm not sure i've met one i didn't like!
everything in this thread sounds good to me!

we have an awesome italian bakery in our little town. getting a loaf hot out of the oven is the best. you just get lucky sometimes and enter at the right time. when that happens i buy 2 - one to eat a soon as i get home w/a little butter.... and then one for whatever meal i was planning to use the bread for.

Oh man! I love all the breads! I've made that artisan bread that was all over facebook at the beginning of the pandemic several times. Of course everyone was making bread then and finding yeast was like winning the lottery. I found a little glass jar of it which will probably take me years to use up. Side note... does yeast go bad? :shrug

Soooo yummy!

I’m definitely a white bread kind of gal especially if it’s hot with butter on it.

Though as an everyday bread I buy a wholemeal sourdough bread

Simple soda bread..

One can of soda and any flavor cake mix... seriously easiest bread ever ..

YES... yeast can go bad.. it gets mold.. or a funky smell.. it can also clump together. .. and than it just doesn't work like it use to. :( ... If it is around any moist spot at all it spoils faster. so it is best kept in a nice dry spot.. tightly sealed up..

My mom makes a delicious pumpkin bread! Mmmm. She also makes this apple cinnamon bread stuff that is my favorite. I have not asked her for the recipe because I don't need it sitting around here. I just have it as a special treat when she makes it.

Those are the kinds of breads I like!
