Book Recommendations

I've got the Outlander books sort of going, too. I think I read through Voyager and then I was sort of ... burnt out on them. I have them on my eReader but I just haven't gotten back to them.

I'll take this moment, too, to profess my love for my Sony eReader. I have my books on it, I can drop it in my purse, I read everywhere. Today I pulled it out and read while I was waiting in the bank drive-thru. I set a reading goal of 25 books for 2009, and I'm going to do it again for 2010. The book goal gives me a kick in the pants.

i don't have time for fiction in my life right now. :imok

but i am reading 'how to cook without a book' by pam anderson (the other pam anderson, not that one)

donald miller's books - blue like jazz, searching for God knows what

how to hear God's voice by mark virkler

fight like a girl by lisa bevere

i'm half way done with Les Mis (like it's over 800 pages people!)

and the bible.

i loved time traveler's wife and i've read most of jodi piccoult's books (although i'm over her style now)

oh - and i ordered sarah palin's new book to read, too.

Oh you need fiction, Lauren. When you don't have time for fiction, that's when you need it the most!

I had to read Les Mis in High School - in the original French. So I retained nothing, obviously, since all my brain power was used up in translating and not comprehension.

After I finished the Sookie books I went on to read all of the other series by Charlaine Harris and my favorite was the Aurora Teagarden series! All of her books are so fun! My most recent reads were Life After Genius and The Lovely Bones. Both were excellent but a little sad too.

I have a lot to share for good reading, but i dont know if like it or not, he is a brazilian writter called Paulo Coelho and i love his books! the most important is The alquimist, if you have the opportunity read it!!!!!

Here is the list of books in order:

Dead Until Dark
Living Dead in Dallas
Club Dead
Dead to the World
Dead as a Doornail
Definitely Dead
All Together Dead
From Dead to Worse

They are fast reads so you might want to pick up a few of them at a time. Here in the states you can get the first 8 for $35 on Amazon which is a great deal...

Whoa, this stopped me in my tracks - am I reading this right? Bank drive-thru?????

umm..yeah...i don't remember any bank drive through when i lived in UK...or much of any drive through anything....

we drive through almost everything here kate. there are even drive through liquor stores - as scary as that sounds.

Whoa, this stopped me in my tracks - am I reading this right? Bank drive-thru?????

Most definitely, Kate. I never go inside my bank. LOL The drive-thru has TV screens and a camera in each lane, so I just talk to the electronic Max Headrooms right there.

Did my age just show? Do you all know Max Headroom?

I'm old too, I remember Max Headroom ;)

Drive-thru banking. Wow. We have drive-thru McDonalds here and that's about it! :lol

These are not light reading but by far the BEST series I have ever read ever...if you like historical fiction that is...

Sharon Kay Penman:

When Christ And His Saints Slept
Time And Space
Devil's Brood
Here Be Dragons (Vol 1 of Welsh Trilogy)
Falls The Shadow (Vol 2 of Welsh Trilogy)
The Reckoning (Vol 3 of Welsh Trilogy)
The Sunne In Splendour

The Welsh Trilogy is my favorite but it's better to read them in order...

Oooh Nikki, I'm going to check those out, I'm a fan of historical fiction :)

They really are outstanding...it begins with the story of the time in England when Stephen and Maude were battling over the crown and then the line of rulers all the way up to Richard III...The Welsh Trilogy diverts a little but it's a great read on it's own..I just like them all in order b/c you get all the history of the characters that way. Her latest Devil's Brood came out last year..I had been waiting on it for like 10 years lol..it didn't disappoint though. Wonderful reads.

Just get through that one, the rest flowed much better for me!

That's good to know, Trude. I'll probably switch back to them next. Voyager was tough for me to feel interested in.
