I'm a little annoyed right now.
I went to the bank this morning to deposit $$ and asked for $25 back.
she ran the deposit, gave me my envelope of $$ and my receipts. i looked at the receipt, it looked good, i drove off.
i got home to find she had only given me $20. i was short $5.
so i went back to the bank.
the teller who had done my transaction had left for lunch, so they couldn't just give me $5. i have to wait for her to come back, balance her drawer and then decide whether i'm telling the truth or not. grrrr.
if she IS off by $5, then they'll credit my acct to correct it. fine.
if i happen to not be her only mistake today, though, and she's not off by $5, then what?
i realize this was my fault also because i didn't physically count the cash right when she gave it to me. i should have but i just drove off.
it's not like we can't afford to just lose the $5. that's not it. it's just the principle of the matter. she could have, in theory, pocketed my $5, her drawer would still balance, and i'm out of luck. as a former auditor, this lack of controls over their system is really bugging me. there's a big giant loophole for the customer to take the hit for small petty theft. (again, i'm not saying that this lady took my $$$... it's just the principle of the matter... and my auditor brain kicking into overdrive... the CONTROL to prevent this stuff is supposed to be that the customer complains. um, i complained, and they said, 'oh well we'll have to see what she says.'
*shrug*
okay, so it's $5. i'm not sure it was worth that whole rant. i'm stepping down from the soap box. i'm done.
