just saw this shared on Facebook from Backblaze about price increases effective next month https://www.backblaze.com/blog/back...ebook&utm_campaign=blog+post&utm_content=post
Oh for sure, an extra $1 per month is nothing. I wouldn’t be without it now after losing everything when my laptop got stolen almost 2 years ago
Yes, I'm with Renee on this one - worth every penny. I'm really surprised it's taken this long for a price increase - I'm grateful, don't get me wrong, but it seems like so many things are increasing in price constantly!
I'm doing my initial back up right now during my free trial... I'll make sure to pay for the full year so I can get it in before the increase!
A free 15 day trial was just automatically offered when I went to the website... I don't think I followed any specific links. Do you see it? If you don't, let me know and I'll see if I can find a link for it.
Still a bargain! It's funny though because I just came home from our homeschool co-op where I teach a photography class. Today's lesson was about backing up your photos and one option I mentioned was Backblaze, for only $5. I'll have to update my students!
My subscription is set to renew March 2. I wondered if I'd get charged the old $50/year of the new $60 price...BB sent an email saying anyone who purchases a one-year extension before Mar 11 gets the old price. So now I wonder if I could renew on the 2nd (at $50) and then on the 3rd purchase a $50 one-year extension?!
I just got the same email as Sara & even though I JUST renewed- I'm thinking about re-upping for the next year to save the $10
Check your account. It should show you what day and price the next year will renew at. On the main webpage, click on billing on the left hand side, then scroll to the "Transactions". It'll show you the date and amount.
It'll renew at $50...but it's set to renew before March 11, so I'm trying to game the system and get another year at $50 by purchasing a year-long extension. If I can't, that's okay. I think the price increase is understandable and not bad at all. (But I don't mind trying to save money if I can lol!)
Ok, the extension fine print says: Purchasing an extension will give you 12 Backup Month Credits that will be applied upon your next renewal on or after March 12th, 2019. So, to me, you should be fine buying an extension. It shouldn't apply until after march 12, which is after this renewal.
You know, I tried Backblaze and would have purchased it. I have 15 (give or take) TB of stuff to back up and they told me it would take more than a year to back it up. Our internet isn't even that slow. I felt like it was a complete waste and so I cancelled.
Mine said it would take awhile (a couple of TB ago!), but it was much faster than estimated. I want to say under 15 days for about 2 TB. And I used some of their tips for helping it run faster when I wasn't online. @littlekiwi How fast did yours end up going?
