Do any of you get it?

It's very rare that I ever do. I woke up through the night and my lower back felt like it was completely seized up. This morning, same thing. DH ran out to the pharmacy before going to work and picked me up Robaxacet, which hasn't really helped. Any advice?

Yes. Often. Depends on what is causing it. Mine is a disk problem so they have me do a million of these a day:

I'm supposed to do like 30 of them a few times a day. But of course I don't. But if I do them when my back is actually hurting, it does go away for a while.

The thought of doing that almost makes me cry. That's exactly where the pain is, dead center, at my very low back right above my butt. I've been sitting with a heating pad behind me, which while I'm here it seems to alleviate it somewhat. I'll likely get desperate enough to try those stretches though. I can't stand being stuck unable to do what I want, you know? Thanks Angie :)

No advice, just sympathy for you. I have huge bazoingas, so I've had off and on back pain for the last 5+ years.

I also have major back pain, although most of mine is sciatica. The only thing that helped me has been to go to a chiropractor. You need to find one that specializes in sports medicine and muscle memory - not one of these guys with all the new-fangled contraptions. If they really are good at their stuff, they can work miracles with just their hands!

I literally had to be carried into my dr's office last summer and was able to walk in (slowly LOL) on my own when I went back the next day. And now, over a year later, I've only had one flare up that he got fixed in a matter of days.

I think I'd rather give birth to a baby than deal with back pain. I hope you feel better quickly!!

Sing it, sister! ITA more than I can say with this statement. My entire back, from top to bottom, seized up a few weeks after I gave birth to my daughter. The only thing that helped were muscle relaxants and time. I didn't know about special exercises or anything like that that would help me recover faster. Childbirth was faster and the pain barely lasted at all!

If it's that bad, then I agree you need to see someone ASAP. Chiropractor would be a good start. If something is out, the pain can be pretty bad because the muscles are trying to pull it back in. Usually when I throw my back out, I drive STRAIGHT to his office. If I can get it put back in right away, I end up with just some residual soreness. But when I try to tough it out, I'm sore for days.

I have back problems on and off,and it seems to flare up when it gets to that time of the month,i think i have just learned to live with it now so no help to you sorry

I agree with Karah, you should see a chiropractor. Maybe look for one who practices Palmer method or Thompson method, those are most conventional (and not new-fangled LOL). I work a few afternoons a week as a chiropractic assistant for two local doctors almost entirely to keep my free access to regular chiropractic care. This job is killer on my back, and my chiropractor is a miracle worker.

I was telling Amy the other day that I had tremors in my left hand for a couple of months and my doctor wanted to have me do all sorts of neurological tests (including one where they basically electrocute you for sport) and I mentioned it to my chiropractor, she adjusted my elbow, wrist and the joints of my thumb and index finger (they're more than just backs!) and the tremors stopped in two visits. Last week my hand started twitching again when I was falling asleep one night so I had her adjust it the next day at work and could have kicked myself for enduring so many months of it.

She also adjusts babies and kids for colic, bedwetting, ear infections, constipation, etc. We call her the baby whisperer. I even stop in and get adjusted for headaches at this point.

But, like I said, it's free. LOL I wouldn't pay to do that, I'd just take some Excedrin.

I too sing the praises of chiropractic care. Once upon a time I worked as a CA as well and regular adjustments kept me the healthiest I've been in my entire life. And the results I'd seen in the patients was truly amazing. If it's a lingering or recurring problem it's definitely worth a try. :)

(hug) Hope you feel better soon soon!!!

I have never been to a chiropractor! It just so happens DH's cousin and wife will be in town this weekend and both are chiropractors. I've always been a little nervous about the idea of it, but am definitely going to give it a go tomorrow in the hopes it will help. Until then I've found a semi-comfy sitting position w/heating pad. So tonight calls for a vodka beverage or two and being waited on by the hubby. Thanks for the advice & sympathy ladies :beat

I would recommend the chiro too sweetie. I rarely have back pain. Have pain in every "other" joint in my body but not my back. BUT when I do, I call my chiro!! Wonderful results!!

One thing my chiro had me do was to apply ice, but only for 10 minutes at a time to reduce swelling but not irritate the nerve by icing it for too long. And he said to do ANY sort of activity I was able to do, just to keep blood flowing to those muscles and nerves, that it would help me to heal faster. And he actually didn't want me doing any stretches or exercises while I was in a lot of pain - that doing them could actually cause further damage until I had begun to heal.
