I have only ever pre ordered 3-4 books... Sarah J Maas books (A Court of Frost and Starlight, and Kingdom of Ash are the two I preordered) and J.K. Rowling's Potter world related books (she had a series of short stories from pottermore that were published for kindle, and I will be preordering Crimes of Grindlewald very soon).
SJM is a relatively new to me author. My reading group did a read along of both of her series (Throne of Glass, and A Court of Thorns and Roses) starting this past November, so after I fell in love with the series, I bought all the kindle versions of the books, and pre ordered the last books of both the series. Court of frost and starlight was released May 1st. Kingdom of Ash is book 7 (final book) in the throne of glass series and releases in October.
Other than that, I dont usually preorder. I prefer most books in paperback, and used, because they are cheaper. More recently, I've started going with kindle options, but I get irritated that the prices change. So if I buy it new, I paid $10, but if I had waited a few weeks, or for a book sale, I would have gotten it for cheaper. *shrug*
Also, I try to only buy books I loved and plan to re-read, so that means i probably borrowed it from the library first, which is definitely not a pre-order situation.
