We all know that you can't judge a book by its cover. But I have to admit that I sometimes pick up a book just for its beautiful or interesting cover art. For this month's challenge I thought it would be fun to take inspiration from book covers. There is endless inspiration out there. You can search Pinterest for book covers, perhaps one will catch your eye while browsing amazon or your library database, you could even pull a book off your own shelf for inspiration. (By the way you don't have to have actually read the book) In this thread please post a picture of the book cover that inspired you along with your layout. Here's my inspiration: I was drawn in by the vertical strips and the complementary blues and greens with the pop of yellow. Here's my page, inspired by the book cover... Now it's your turn. Find a book cover that inspires you and scrap away. I can't wait to see what you come up with. Gentle Reminder: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the August Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread. The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month: 2 challenges = 10% off 4 challenges = 20% off 6 challenges = 30% off If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day, the first Friday of the month. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges).
Here's the book cover that caught my eye. I loved the irregular cropping and the see through title on a neutral background with burnished edge. and here's my layout
I tried two others and couldn't get the look I wanted to started over. I liked the large single word title with the various colors and the b&w photo.
Ok, not my favorite page...may have a redo/over. But I took the multi blocked effect from this cover as a starting point.
My inspiration was the simplicity of this book cover, and especially the torn, peek-a-boo picture. https://the-lilypad.com/forum/galleries/08-19_inspiration_bookcover_the-end.401619/
thank you for the interesting and wonderful Challenge! I was inspired by this book cover with the round frame in the middle and the flying butterflies and the flower blending my page:

I found the book online, right clicked on the photo, saved the image as a jpg to my computer. Then when posting here, click on upload file (I did a full image, not a thumbnail) and then add your layout.
