This month our challenges are in loving tribute to Dawn Inskip, who was taken from us suddenly and much too soon. She was a truly gifted artist and her designs and scrapbook layouts reveal so much about what she found inspiring. In other challenges we will be lifting pages from Dawn's gallery, replicating her style, and using her products. So for this challenge I thought we would do something different. Rather than take inspiration from her art, let's take inspiration from her words. I have chosen a pack of word art from Dawn's store. These are her words, on being who you are - a beautiful legacy for her to leave to us. Create a page inspired by one (or more) of these words, or phrases. You are not required to use this product on your page, but are welcome to if you would like. Here's my page: Can't wait to see your pages inspired by the words of Dawn Inskip. As Always: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the August Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread. The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month: 2 challenges = 10% off 4 challenges = 20% off 6 challenges = 30% off If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges).
Thanks for the challenge, Ashleigh. I love words and splurged on Dawn's whole Be Who You Are collection so I would have them to use in this challenge. I had fun with it and actually tried something new. When I desaturated the photo I didn't like the stark contrast with the colorful papers so I created an overlay for the photo, colored it pink (picked from the background paper) and reduced the opacity to 11%. I like the way that just that touch soften the contrast.
