Aperture 3.0

Yesterday Apple (quietly) updated their professional Photo organization/editing program.

What is Aperture?

While i haven't downloaded the free trial yet, it looks like iPhoto 09 and Aperture 2.0 had a baby and are letting Photoshop babysit for it.
Translation: The improvements are amazing!

Any of you girls play with 3.0 yet?

Haven't played, but I didn't get aperture when i got my Mac. Figured since I have PS that would be enough. Maybe I'll download the trial and see if i like it.

I am sorry I didnt respond sooner! I didn't get a chance to go check it out! It looks AMAZING! I was not a fan of 2.0, but it looks like this fixes some of the issues I was having in 2.0. Did you DL it? If so what do you think?!?!!

First off yes. I have my copy now and it's ah-mazing! There was much to be desired with 2.0 and especially after iPhoto 09 came out with all it's amazing new features. The presets are fab because like lightroom it will show you a preview. Have you watched the how to videos. They made me drool as I imported my old library. I'm switching from iPhoto to aperture for sure. In fact, I have already switched.

The saddest thing is that aperture will take png files but not transparent ones like our scrapbook elements. I wanted to make another library to organize and cross refrence those. sad day. But maybe I will make a new iPhoto library for all my papers. Hmm. That could be nice.

As for Apple I am one of those super cool creatives that get to hang out with you and teach you how to use anything you want. Guess what half of my customers want to learn? Digiscrapbooking!! So I really have the best job ever. I get to show off tlp while I work. I once had a workshop with six scrappers. When I was busy helping one the others would help eachother. It was so awesome. (can you tell I love me job? Hehe)

I've been wondering if i want Aperture.....so it can replace ipoto? off to check out! What's the difference between it and Lightroom, btw? I don't have lightroom yet either....

Val, you totally want aperture. Especially now that it will track your faces and places like iPhoto does. Oh, and don't worry, you can import your library and keep all your previous tags and possibly album/folder structure Lightroom is very similar to Aperture. It is such a preference, some people prefer one to the other. It's like Nikon or Cannon. Which camera do you shoot with? Why? Is it really better than the other brand? Or are you just comfortable with the settings and already have lenses.... Enjoy your trial! Don't be afraid to ask more questions. I don't mind bringing this type of work home with me.
