Anybody use Netspend?

I've been using Netspend since 2009 without a problem. It's handy to use along with Paypal to have $$ to spend for digi, itunes, B&N, etc. I figured it was safer than using my bank acct. Well, last night I logged onto my acct and it shows I have a balance of around $15 but it also says something like "there is a problem with your account, please call customer service". I went and googled to see if anyone else is having problems and apparently there are a lot of problems. Some people apparently have their paychecks or SSI direct deposited into their Netspend and are losing their entire balance. I'm happy mine is only $15 but darn it that was my stash to spend this weekend on digi
:(. Paypal offers a prepaid card so I signed up for it then at the end of signing up it says it is also a Netspend...grrrrr. Anyone know of any safe alternatives?
 
I've never heard of netspend. I've just used paypal. But, I'm not a leading authority on this sort of thing, or anything.

I'm glad you don't have a big chunk of change in there like others do, it sounds like.

I'm sorry you're having issues! I hope you get it resolved soon. Maybe report them to the BBB since you can't access your funds?
 
I've never heard of it either, but I've been very happy with Paypal.

When we get paid, I transfer my digi budget to my paypal. I also purchase an iTunes gc with each paycheck so that we stay on budget with iTunes. It's really helped me keep track of my spending.
 
Never heard of Netspend & have been happy with PayPal. That's sad that people's money is being taken.
 
Netspend is a prepaid debit card. I had mine linked to my Paypal...it was nice that I could put however much I wanted to in there for my digi shopping...saved lots of arguments with DH lol.
