I'm not new here, but couldn't find any 'new' welcome posts to comment on so I started a new one for my Bingo card!! While I was watching Cheryl scrap tonight...I was wondering if there are any other GIMP users? I have been using it for so long, and I don't really like change, so that's why I guess I will just stick with it. Am I the lone Gimp user??
My DH has it and uses it for images (more like diagrams or exam questions images he makes) - the layers palette looks much the same as Photoshop to me (i'm still in CS6 and get what you mean about not wanting to change) - i think some of the filters and 'bells and whistles' that i only use once in a blue moon aren't in there, but i can imagine for most of my scrapping it would be fine (i can't remember about the ability to tweak or smudge shadows, it's been a while since i really looked at it)
I did used to use GIMP but now I use Photoshop CC. I occasionally use GIMP when I am not on my laptop and am using someone else's computer. GIMP is available as a portable app so it can live on an external hard drive and be used on any computer.
Lynn, if I m not mistaken, GIMP is free? there was a new member posting (not sure if it was yesterday or I just saw it yesterday, my neurological issues + old age and general poor health messes with memory, she was asking for a program, I may direct her top you or Ophelia @navaja77 hope you guys don't mind!!!!
I only used GIMP to get layered pngs from PSD files. I have since moved to PS so I no longer need the pngs.
I am with you on not liking change! That's why I'm still using my OLD Photoshop from about 11 years ago still. I bought it when my oldest son was in 1st grade with the educational discount and he's now a senior! (12th grade!)
I'm GIMP user, is free, and demands a little bit more to learn to use it, but I can do a lot of tricks already
@KairynLisa (apologies if I am getting this wrong, I'm neurologically on decline0) was it you that asked for a program other than PS? the GIMP could be an option?
