so we've done the Smash Book thing... i realllly love the concept but the unfortunate thing is that the books just don't stay together. so, i'm wondering about other options out there... any you've used, seen or want to try?

Simple Stories has a new product out called Sn@p that looks kind of cool. Almost looks like it combines a project life type album with a smash journal. Hopefully it's ok to post the link to their video.

I think it's all 3x4 and 4x6 pockets so it would work well with goodies from the shop here as well...always a bonus!

Wasn't there something from Studio Calico that was similar to Sn@p? Vaguely remember it from the CHA coverage. I like this idea - I was thinking about doing something for a holiday journal next year - I could give the kids cards to fill in and decorate. I tried to do this with them in a book but they didn't like the idea of not being able to chuck it away if they messed it up (and to be honest, neither was I :lol)

I made a journal out of card and rings, wasn't very exciting though ;) and I didn't really get it done much either.

I love Daybooks - such as these from Amy. Coz they're not too big, it's really easy to fill one up, whether it be random smash style, or for a particular subject. If you do a google or youtube search for daybooks you'll find a ton of inspiration!

Here's a vid of one I filled recently

Hmm, not showing up in this post, guess I'm doing it wrong lol

Aaw shucks and stuff <3

Definitely recommend the daybooks, so much fun

Lita...that was so cool!!! You have me all excited to work on something now! I just messaged a friend about it.
I really need a place to create. I guess I could kick a few kids out and then I'd have lots of room in my house, but they just never seem to leave! LOL

ooooh...i just looked at pics on the simple stories blog ... is the Sn@p album the one TLP is selling here?

I think it would be awesome for December Daily for sure.

I started a Smash book and I find the coils too tight. I couldn't turn the pages at all and I don't even have them filled. So until they change that, it's not going to work. I bought a bind-it-all so I could make my own Smash-type book, but with a bigger coil. But I still haven't tried it yet. I've also used the Staples disc binding system and made a book. I blogged about it on TLP blog a couple of months ago: https://the-lilypad.com/blog/diy-notebook/

Lita, I LOVE your book! Cute cute cute! I might have to make one "just because" and "steal" your theme of your top moments of 2012. It should be a great "wrap up" of the year!

I heard the same thing too abouth the coils to tight. I bought Cinch the binding tool. I havent officially made a book yet but I did bind one to make a book. In the past I usually made books from brown sack papers to cardboards, to acrylic. :)

that is a cute book :) That is like something that I do. Find something to hold it together. Even ribbons, or ring binder that split, and even hardwares bolts and nuts.

I bought my son a blank "journal" to put whatever he wanted in it but he was so afraid his little sisters would mess it up that it has not been out of his desk. :P Ah well. I love the smash book idea so I am going to try to add "smash" pages to my project life this year. Have each of the kids do one a week as well. Should be interesting.
